I don't know how credible or even how they came to that number...

But below is the difference in a UCL spot.
.
His 4 errors leading to goals this season were in draws to West Brom, Sunderland, Norwich & Newcastle... Thats 8 points that would have us top 4... against the bottom of the table..

I don't even want him around as our #2... please, just go..

I believe his points cost us is completely different from the points we have dropped once in the league.

Points cost us are specific to saves he should easily make or comlete whiffs of the ball which allow an easy goal. Those game results are then tabulated vs. what they would have been without the goal. THats not perfect, as without the goal the rest of the game would have gone differently, but it gives you an idea about what his actual mistakes are costing us in terms of points.

Its a little tougher to figure out how many they've saved you, but clearly a keeper like DDG has won the Mancs a lot of points this year that they otherwise would have lost.

GK can makes losses into ties and ties into wins by making that big saves and no giving up an easy opportunity.

Migs makes wins into ties and ties into losses by making terrible mistakes and missing some very easy saves.

Still holding out hope that all the ter Stegen rumors are true... He's got a bit of growing to do still (not physically) I think, but he could be a solid #1 for a decade or more imo

80 million euro buy out clause that Barca said they won't budge on.

Also Migs just inked a new long term deal

I'm not saying we'll get Ter Stegen, but if Barca sells... It will be for way less than 80mm Euros..

I mean, Pedro's was 150mm Euros and then Barca reduced it to 30mm

Buy out clauses are mandatory in Spain, so they are always huge in the contracts..

I don't know what to say about Migs contract... I could live with him as a #2 (though I prefer he just go), but he needs to be replaced as the #1.. simple as that

Yeah, I think Migs contract was just to lock him up just in case, and provide value should we decide to sell.

I mean, the choice was either to have no GK locked up heading into next year (migs on last year of his deal) or to lock him in.

I also read where the extension was already in the works under BR, and Klopp did not want to stop it and give Migs any reason to lose confidence, which makes perfect sense from a man management perspective.

extension or not, if he's demoted he's gonna lose confidence...

and at this point, it's has become the biggest need on the squad... more than CB, more than CDM, more than striker.... we are top 4, right now, if not for that dude...

I think he meant for this current season... I think everyone agrees (hopefully Klopp too) that he needs replacing...

The verdict is in... from the Echo's live blog..

quote:

• Liverpool fans were unlawfully killed;

• Fans were in no way to blame;

• There were “major omissions” in police planning and preparation for the semi-final;

• Police response to the increasing crowds at Leppings Lane was “slow and uncoordinated”;

• Errors by commanding officers contributed to the crush on the terrace;

• Commanding officers failed to recognise pens were at capacity;

• Design and layout of the crush barriers in pen three and four were not fully compliant with safety regulations;

• Ambulance officers at the scene failed to ascertain the scale of the problem and the failure to call a major incident led to delays in responses to the emergency;

• A lack of communication, coordination and command and control by police.

Bingo. Hope we don't have to care about his confidence next year. But Klopp had to rely upon him for this year, and likely couldn't squash an extension in his first month on the job.

A 5 year deal will not prevent us from selling him. Only possible harm is if his wages are too high, but I doubt thats the case.

Great to see the verdict so far.

Sakho didn't appeal UEFA to test his B sample.

He's gonna be out for a while.

I'm wonering if he didn't appeal the test itself because he'll admit that he took a fat burner, which may make him look more cooperative and allow for a leaner sentence. I don't enough about other people's fights against UEFA to know for sure, but it appears that if you cooprate and give them mitigating circumstances (hey, it wasn't a steroid, I just stupidedly took this supplement without checking with my physio first) then you can get a 6 month ban instead of a 2-4 year ban. Thats my fairly uninformed read on it at least.

Man, that's awful news. We needed him for the Europa push. I hope Toure and Lucas strap in, because we're going to need their old legs paired with Lovren.

I'm not sure of the procedure with UEFA, but if there were some type of suspensive appellate process, I'm sure he would have availed himself of it to allow him to finish the season and then have his hearing during the summer.

I'm sure this is the case. I'm just hoping it will be <6 months. Sucks that he probably won't be able to take part in the Euro's in his home country right when he's coming into good form, but I'll be selfish and hope that he can start back with us after only missing a month or two of football because we need a consistent partnership in the back.
