Good to get the points.

There is going to be some growing pains with the new guys, but damn we've got some talent and some great options.

Cou is still rusty but dat goal tho!

I thought Lovren was "ok". He looked pretty shaky IMO, he's not in Sahko's universe even on top form.

Let's not forget where the game was played. The Britania is not an easy place to stroll Into and walk away with points, especially on a day when we weren't at our best. I think Gomez showed that he's an 18 year old kid that's dripping with physical ability, Coutinho had a few nice runs and his shot was magic, but he did disappear a few times. Id like to see us start next week with Can and Firmino in place of Lallana and Ibe. Let's see if we can't dominate the game and build some momentum. Lallana and Ibe off the bench is nothing to shake a stick at either.

Just re-watched the game.

Lovren was pretty solid. Hope this will give him some confidence. I guess I just unfairly judge him from last season.

Clyne deserves a shout out, he was extremely solid at RB.

He made some very good runs forward and wasn't found

Can Lovren and Sakho not play together?

I'd like us to try the two of them out. Cant be much worse than Skrtel and Lovren, only better really.

Yeah, he's probably my favorite signing this year early on.

Really good signing

3 points!!!

Not the most fun game to watch.

I am a bit harsher on Gomez than most of you. Yes, it was a tough place for your first start. Wind swirling. Loud crowd. Veteran matched up on you that had a lot of guile. But Gomes horrendously played at least three balls in the air - jumping and whiffing completely wen he was the only one up for it.

He had a bad error which stoke should have scored on - thankfully Glenn Johnson remains as lethal as a puppy.

He sent a pass - pretty much a cross straight in the middle - into our own box

He was poor. His postponing needs a lot of work - drifted centrally too much - unless the plan was to keep him next to lovren and make lallana chase down everything?

Lovren was not a liability and did ok- had some good moments.

He and Gomez together for the full year give me nightmares.

Clyne was superb. Defended well, and if Ibe was capable of sending a Good through ball, Clyne would have had plenty more offensive work as he overlapped well into space and didn't receive the ball several times.

Firminio looked good on the ball, but will need some time to adapt to the more physical league. You can see he has the skills though.

Bentenke made some noise but isn't quite on the same page. Time will help.

Cans introduction did change some things - but it's not like we dominated exclusively from that point on. I wouldn't christen it as the best formation yet - a good sub and tactical move and something that definitely should get a good run out in some games though.

I also wanted to add - our defense was much better organized on the whole. They kept the line well and seemed to be more on the same page - which was good considering it was two transfers first start - and one was 18 years old.

Apparently Roma got Digne instead of us.

I thought Gomez did okay, but he did have a few nervy moments... I really want Moreno to step up and I hope this is a wake up call for him... Gomez doesn't really offer anything going forward..

As for Lovren and Sakho, that was originally why I thought we brought him in...

I see Firmino scored a hat trick today and really hope his emergence means the end of Lallana starting... On his day he can be very good, but too often I come away unimpressed.. He never seems to make the right decisions with his final ball IMO

Markovic and Ings found the net today too.

As far as Gomez goes...you can see the athleticism and skill, but the youth is also obvious. The ball he "cleared" from the byline and sent right into our box made my butt hole pucker

And yes, Firmino has to be on the pitch. He can dribble through traffic and find the runner, something we really only get from Cou right now. It was clear from his first touch against stoke that he brings more to the table from a creativity standpoint than Lallana

Lallana is a proven EPL player. Let's just hold off for a second.

And he's been playing out of position, being asked to do a lot of shite he's not good at. He was covering for Gomez half the game.

Maybe I have the british bias disease but Lallana was always going to struggle in this game. He'll come good in the wide open games with space. This was not that game.

Firmino may not be fit for the full 90, you don't want to burn him out early only to have him come shite in Dec when it counts.

What are the games you're talking about goals in? Training?

Like I said yesterday, Lallana is fantastic in the final 3rd, if we're able to get there. There he has plenty of creativity. It's in the buildup where he struggles, and I would echo Bleed's comment where he was kind of doomed from the start against Stoke.

Also, as excited as I am to see Firmino in a starting capacity, bedding in 5 new faces at the same time hardly seems wise. See 2014-15.
