I don't understand why bentenke and firminio aren't part of the squad - short preseason for them - at least one appearance in the squad before the season would be a good thing, right?

#LFC have secured Allan for the future and he's currently spending time with the Reds with the permission of his club, Internacional.

Referring to Allan Rodrigues de Sousa.

They are playing tomorrow vs. Swindon Town.

Swindon town but not with the main first team. So integrating them in a live setting will occur in a Game that matters.

We played a lot of 4-5-1. So no conclusions to draw. Same crap as last year, basically. Most of the team looked out of sorts, IMO. Not really a standout performance by anyone. Coutinho is incredibly rusty.

He'll be ok. That goal was a laser beam, and he got close earlier. I'm excited about Gomez.

Oh yeah it's def not a sky is falling thing. If anything it just shows how important it is for us to play with two strikers. Nothing groundbreaking on that front.

Cou will be fine. He's going to have a world class season, mark my words.

I watched late last night and I'll give some thoughts.

We played pretty much with a 4-2-3-1 with Milner and Hendo as the 2 midfielders. They did better than I thought discipline wise as one was always staying back (usually Hendo) if the other pushed forward. I'm worried that we won't get the best out of them though if they're both stuck too far back. Milner has done better than I expected playing more centrally, but I still think he'd be better with a true DM behind him and more license to move forward.

Origi and Ings were pretty meh to me. I know the formation doesn't do them much justice because neither are good enough to play as a lone striker IMO. Origi is much more of a wide forward and Ings just reminds me of Borini. I appreciate his runs and his pressing but he's not good enough holding up play and getting his midfield involved.

Ibe is growing up quick, but he still has lapses in his decision making where he dribbles into a dead end. I think he'll be a good impact sub when we need something to happen though, because he's surely not afraid to take on anyone.

Lallana and Coutinho both looked smooth and had good footwork as usual, but they need to be better linking up with others. We really need better end product from those 2 I think for us to get more goals, but they didn't get many favors from the rest of the team either cause when they got the ball their didn't seem to be much movement and more watching and waiting to see if they would do something spectacular.

Gomez has been a hell of a signing so far. Just very solid in a position that's not natural at all for him. He's a great athlete and looks so calm and composed out there. He'll at least find himself on the bench for most games if not challenge Moreno if he doesn't pick up his game.

Clyne was also a very nice signing. Just a good "Brendan" signing that fits his philosophy perfectly. It's nice to have a good fullback who looks comfortable bombing forward while not dribbling straight into 3 defenders (looking at you Glen)

Skrtel, Lovren, and Mignolet didn't have much to do so not much to comment on.

Tony Barrett said it's likely that'll be our starting lineup for Stoke with the exception of Benteke at striker. I hope he links up better with the midfield, but I think we'd be better off going with a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond to give Milner and Hendo more of a chance to push forward because they're both very willing to make runs into the box, but hopefully Firmino adds to that as well in the near future.

Origi is a CF in my opinion, just not one quite ready to make an impact... but he did well with the ball by Milner.. speaking of which, he's had a pretty good pre-season and appears won't need any time to fit in... 2 assists yesterday.

It was a pretty boring match, by and large...

I will continue to state the obvious, but good god Rodgers must have something personal against Sakho, to be going with Lovren...

I have zero faith in qualifying for top 4 with dumb and dumber as our CB pairing..
