I've seen a lot of people talk about the financial power it would give us, but spending money hasn't been our issue. FSG has spent in windows even though we may come out in the positive this window. The problem has been everyone not being on the same page and no clear strategy on spending, see Benteke and Balotelli for the most obvious examples.

And would having even more money for more wages and transfer fees help us all that much? We're not in Europe so it would be difficult to attract names even with money. And Klopp hasn't been one to go spend £50m+ on a single player. I don't think it would make all that much difference to how the club operates on a day to day basis other than expand our market in Asia. Just my opinion.

yeah, I don't have a problem with our owners... but I think a minority investor to solidify our financial strength would be good.. but just thinking of how Klopp would work with them is a little short sighted, right? No guarantees he'll be here next season (though I certainly hope so and can't see a reason why he wouldn't)..

They have spent but my no means have we been able to spend with the big boys... I get Klopp wants to do it different and I'm okay with that..

it's interesting to say the least...

I just brought that up cause I've seen a lot of people look at it as if we have absolutely no spending power. Maybe we can't spend what United, City, and Chelsea do, but if you look at a lot of charts from the past few years, we're not far behind them.

So I guess my point is that we haven't really been short on funds in the past, present, and immediate future with Klopp here. Of course if we had more funds available we could hire Mourinho and spend £300m in the next window so who knows.

I think a lot of actual Liverpudlians would not like the move for the disconnect that would happen with the club and the city/fans. No way Chinese businessmen would do what FSG did last year with all the uproar in ticket prices. So I wouldn't want a full takeover, but having an additional investor never hurts I guess, even though I wouldn't expect it to change much.

I know what you were getting at and I agree for the most part... I really like what we have going on and if we had spent the money better since FSG has been here... We should be a lot better..

I just don't want to get totally left behind in the long run...

so, seriously.... did NO ONE get the joke??

need a little bit of levity, considering we shite the proverbial bed, yet again to a team we should have no problems with....

We have allowed 7 shots in two games. 5 of them have been goals.

Lovren has been poor. Clynne has been poor. Migs hasn't done anything good (though I don't blame him for any goal in particular). Klavan has had his moments but also has had some poor moments. Hendo can't protect a back four for his life.

But people keep thinking Moreno is the only problem or the real problem.

Yes, the defense has been very poor. And I think the importance of Emre Can cannot be overstated. As far as I'm concerned he cannot be replaced with Henderson.

i think the problem is that wij cannot play in a 2..hes a natural 10. playing him in a 2 is only fine if its with can, even then its not ideal. henderson and wij both have the inclination to crash the box, leaves us so vulnerable on the counter and in general gives the opposition so much space between the cbs and mf.

i have loved wij. if any of yall remember he was my TD avatar probably 4 or 5 years ago when he was a youngster with psv. but he has no real place in this squad as far as im concerned. he is a natural attacker, which in this lineup means hes really our 4th or 5th best attacking player. so what then? he isnt bad, he just makes no impact, negative or positive. i think tactically we have a lot more fluidity and spine with a can/henderson 2 instead of wij there. when we bought him i was hoping it was for depth and not to play him in a 2 - he just isnt disciplined enough for it despite his pressing and pace he brings to the table.

am I missing something? We've played with a midfield 3 almost exclusively? Hendo at the base with Lallana and Wij as the runners? Though they can switch around a bit if Hendo moves forward?

Though I do agree, Wij has shown nothing to me yet that he is great in a 2, and is, in fact, struggling with a 3. The assist against Arsenal was his highlight, but he's had a lot of minutes with very little to show for it other than that.

I think a huge problem is that NONE of our midfielders that have started/played the majority of minutes the first two weeks can tackle worth a damn.

After watching the game, my analysis is as follows: Jordan Henderson has no business on the pitch, ever. He just isn't talented enough to pass, advance, or defend effectively. He also has minimal pace. He's smart so he doesn't get caught out of position often, so he's not a liability, but above that he offers almost literally nothing.

formations mean nothing these days, theres so much fluidity in the game. what is certain is lallana, firmino, mane, sturridge, coutinho, wij are all attacking players. right now klopp is trying to play them as a front 5 with henderson - i think we can agree that doesnt work. henderson/wij have been the "holding 2". henderson the more dedicated, in a role he is not good at, and wij as the more B2B player, a role he is not good at.

henderson/can is our best "holding 2" pairing - i think this is without a doubt true. wij imo is best used instead of a firmino/lallana/coutinho, not with all 3. we are left vulnerable with no spine in the team. this is evidence in almost every goal we have given up so far.

one thing rodgers did all the fricking time and is something i never thought klopp would do is leave a player exposed. henderson is glaringly exposed. he is playing a position he is simply not good at. hes a b2b midfielder, not a CDM/DLP/whatever you want to label what he has played so far this season.

Word is we're considering loaning Sakho out to "find himself."

Based on our defensive performances, this is the absolute last thing I expected to read this afternoon. The frick?

I mean, we have to be bringing someone in if true....

Do we think this is smoke to the Mustafi fire?

Maybe not smoke to that specific fire, but we had better be making SOME sort of smoke signals. Our back line depth is flat-lining.

I think we just have to relax for a bit and take comfort in the knowledge that if either Sadio or Emre were able to play against Burnley we probably win that match.

We've got a League Cup match here shortly. Win that, and we should have some confidence going to the Lane this weekend.
