Guzan is not a DP. The DPs are Almiron, Villalba and Martinez.

I could've sworn I heard somewhere he was a DP. I have nothing to complain about with how the roster was built then. I like that we have young DPs instead of ticket selling ones.

Does anyone have tickets for the Houston game on 5/20 that they're interested in selling? I'm about to buy some off of stubhub, but I'd rather ask a SB person first.

Need at least 2. Can email me at chocozuma@gmail.com

I would suggest Ticketmaster over Stubhub for Atlanta United tickets.

without our best player. Nothing worse than our best player being hurt during a international game.

If you are new to MLS this isn't going to make sense, but here goes:

Brad Guzan is paid a high enough salary that he would qualify as a DP, however Atlanta used Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) to offset his wages down to the point to where he is below the DP threshold and does not take a DP slot. I can't really remember when they started this, a couple of years back I guess, probably for the Galaxy or Seattle's immediate benefit.

I think last year for the galaxy lol. Gerarrd, dos santos, keane and someone else. MLS is pretty confusing with stuff like that, i still don't know how shite works.

TAM was introduced at the beginning of 2015.

It's really not worth knowing outside of the basics because they will change/interpret the more obscure stuff however they need to

MLS transfer/money is confusing lol.

Play by Europes rules; China won't pass us & we'll move on up in terms of league comparison to the rest of the world real quick

Yeah I've only very casually followed MLS until now because I never had a team. It seems they bend the rules to get in big name players without much of a problem.

I'm not sure we want to play by European rules though. I kind of like the parity of MLS.

I kind of wish we'd used that money to get a stud center back, but like I said I'm really happy with how they built the team.

Let wins and the environment sell tickets. Not washed up stars.

Wins haven't helped FC Dallas. But there are other reasons their attendance numbers suck.

Having a stadium at least a half-hour away from the city center ain't great, either.

I think it's pretty conclusive at this point that building your stadium out in the suburbs is bad for MLS attendance. The bottom 3 in attendance last year all made that mistake, and two of three we're playoff teams so even winning can't overcome being out of sight and out of mind
