Nice photo of his dad playing Bball at LSU too.

I know, I know Bleacher Report
quote:

U.S central defender Matt Besler was another in awe. "The first thing that stood out to me was his physical presence. There were many times throughout the camp where I shook my head and I couldn't believe that this kid was 18 years old (he's 19 now). He doesn't look like an 18-year-old kid, and he doesn't play like an 18-year-old kid, either."

Veteran forward Alan Gordon joined the line to see Carter-Vickers' identification. "I was very surprised by his age. I didn't know much about him before the camp. When somebody told me his age, I was like, 'Wow.' He's got a very mature body. I thought he was 30."

quote:

Carter-Vickers cites visits to Louisiana in his youth as giving him an appreciation for life in America. He stays in touch with his father, who's proud of who the young man is becoming. "Most parents want their children to do better and have more in life than they did," Carter says of his son. "He's already on pace to do abundantly more."

I meant to throw in this quote too. I fricked up this whole thread.

quote:

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino believes Carter-Vickers, "will be one of the best centre-backs in England." Those in and around the club deem the 19-year-old their best defensive prospect since former England international King came through the academy.

King, who worked with Carter-Vickers on Tottenham's U18 team, thinks that might be true. "He's probably more physical than I was as a young kid coming through. Maybe a better defender than I was, too. But on and off the pitch, I can see characteristics in our demeanor, our determination to want to improve and want to get to the top."

He didn't play in World Cup qualifying losses to Mexico and Costa Rica, results that ended Klinsmann's time in charge, but he made the gameday roster in the second match.

I hope Jurgen not using his last-sub to cap-tie him when it was 3-0 in the 75th minute vs Costa Rica doesn't come back to haunt us.

I'm sure it's just a weird camera angle, but his left leg looks photoshopped.

That quad looks massive. It's reminiscent of Keiland Williams calves.

I'm kind of hoping he breaks into the senior team in time for Russia.... Maybe a Gold Cup call up if that doesn't interfere with his u-20 duties?

I'd be surprised and somewhat disappointed if he's not on the team for Russia.

Haunt us how? His only other international option would be England correct? Have they shown any interest? To be clear, I'm not downplaying his talent or saying he's not good enough for England so he's settling for the USMNT. I just haven't heard much about England pursuing him so I'm genuinely asking - Has England contacted him at all?

Like someone else said, I would be very disappointed if he wasn't on the plane to Russia. Possibly even as a starter. He will be 20 when the WC kicks off. That's not too young to be considered for a starting spot. If he is good enough for a consistent spot on Spurs bench, surely he will have a spot on the World Cup squad. He seemingly has all the traits to be a potential top tier CB. The only reason he's not getting any real minutes for Spurs is because he has the Premier Leagues best CB tandem playing ahead of him. He also seems very mature for his age. Both physically mature and more importantly, mentally. He seems like a smart, down to earth kid. I had to do a double take reading those quotes from Poch and King. Very high praise from one of the world's best managers and the best CB in the clubs history.

If, for whatever reason, England realizes what they could have, they put the full court press on a guy who, lets be honest, is more English than American.

I think technically, he could finagle his way onto France because Hi-C did get French citizenship while playing overseas. But yeah, it's going to be either us or England and we're in the lead.

Tab said something in that story that he thinks England has reached out to him, which is rumored to have played a part in why Jurgen called him up to the senior team last November.

In place of who?

That's pretty fricking young.

Since 1990, we've only started four players in the World Cup that were 20 years old:

Eric Wynalda in 1990
Landon Donovan and DaMarcus Beasley in 2002
Jozy Altidore in 2010

We've actually never started someone younger than that, but barring something catastrophically ridiculous, Pulisic will be starting for us in Russia at age 19.

CCV loves him some BR

quote:

“It’s really nice out there, the weather is nice and it’s about an hour’s drive from New Orleans which is always an exciting place to visit. There’s good food out there as well, a lot of seafood dishes,” said the youngster. “I’d fly from Stansted to Houston and then get a connecting flight to Baton Rouge. It’s the capital of Louisiana so there’s a fair bit to do – I’ve got loads of family out there on my dad’s side with cousins and aunties, so whenever I went I’d be visiting them. I still see them when I go out there now – last summer I went and played a bit of basketball with my cousins.”

His dad's name is on the Wall of Fame for the NIT. MVP in 1980 or 81.

It was 80, they went to the final 4 in 81 aka the infamous Bob Knight quote on Daddy Dale.

Then I'm way off. I'm talking The Newman Invitational Tournament. The best HSBB tournament in NOLA, since the demise of the CYO. Howard must have been MVP in 78 or 79.

It should be on your list of events. Always a great spectacle.
