So we are the Gold Cup favorites, right? Or will it be Costa Rica?
It will be us and Mexico as the favorites. Costa Rica is a flash in pan.

An updated USMNT schedule stickied would be a good idea for this board.

Surely they will have already been confirmed etc?
Bit Off topic but I saw an article today with FIFA confirming that USA can bid for 2026
With 2030 allowing for European teams and 2034 almost certainly going to Uruguary it could be the best time for USA to bid again.

I don't buy that at all. I think Costa Rica has the potential to seperate themselves from the second tier of CONCACAF. It's a football crazy country with a stable, western economy.
USA
Mexico
Costa Rica
Honduras
Panama
You're 2015 Copa Oro winner will be one of those five nations.

Does anyone else think Canada can make a run for the 4th spot in CONCACAF, since the Canadian teams seem to be doing really well with homegrown players? There are probably a cycle or two away from making a statement, but given how top heavy CONCACAF is, I wouldn't be surprised.

They certainly have the resources to get there, the MLS has been a tremendous boon, and will continue to be one, to their FA.
I agree they're a cycle or two away, but the growth is evident.

Canada needs to convince their dual nationals to actually play for Canada.

So do we. Arguably we are a Quarterfinal team if Rossi and Subotic play for us. Need to get every possible dual national, not just the German-American ones.

Im kind of surprised by the attitude of we need the dual nationalites, like its a recruiting war. From the outside in it seems very against the America is th ebest attitude most citizens have.
Will this change once the US becomes more established and the quantity aswell as quality of American players rise?
Not trolling btw genuinely interested

For Dortmund? Knew about Rossi but I didn't even know he was once an option.

USA wants to win and that is first and foremost. If the players can legally play for the US and will improve the roster, i doubt anyone will have a problem with them.

Does FIFA set pay standards, like minimums and caps?
Could the US technically outbid other nations for dual citizenship players?

Once the talent level of our American born and raised players improves, then the dual nationality players will become less of a necessity. Right now, we need them. Imagine how much worse we would be without Jones, Johnson, Mix, Green, Aron, etc. Even guys like Danny Williams and Boyd add needed depth to our pool.

I'm not quite sure I understand the question. I don't think you can really just give the guy a suitcase full of money, but you can promise things like caps and better opportunities to play. That's most likely how we got Green. We got Aron mostly because we qualify for the World Cup and Iceland doesn't.

I'm asking if FIFA polices what individual nations pay their players?
If the answer is no, could the US just pay players more so those with dual citizenship "lean" our way a little more?

Jed right. Costa Rica isn't far behind us. They don't have our depth, but they're right there behind us.
