Personally I think this is Man U looking at what everyone else has and knowing that they have to have a top class manager immediately rather than try to find that long term replacement they really want.

That could be it for sure, but maybe this is the time Jose actually goes somewhere for an extended period of time. Its been known he's always had this job on his list but would not take it out of respect for Chelsea.

Hopefully he embraces the club's ethos and our traditions. We have some great youth players coming through and the fans will demand they get a chance.

The consensus last night after the match was excited to get him but every fan I talked to said the same thing. He must give the youngster a chance. Maybe this is the job where he embraces that and will be at the club for an extended period of time.

I admire your optimism, but

I think l'OM is in serious trouble. Letting Ayew and Gignac leave for free was pants on fire stupid, and another 2-3 starters are leaving (for free) after this year.

Unless the next owner is really dedicated to winning, they're going to need 2-3 years just to field a squad with talent on it.

Some of these stories starting to come out about LVG are great! I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to play for him..

Seems like just yesterday people were saying Van Gaal would be one of the best managers in the Prem.

I remember when I started the tactical genius thread and half this board acted like I was crazy for mocking him

I don't even think his big doubters (I was one too) thought he would be as bad as he turned out...

LvG 1 Cup - BR - 0

and he never lost to BR....

For all his faults and being thick on tactics, the one positive is all the young players injected in the team.

A couple years ago we will see if the foundations he laid paid off.

What pisses me off about this whole thing is George Mendez leaking this to the press right after the FA Cup win.

BR is no longer here either (again, thankfully)... he at least gave us a title run and had one exciting season.. we may have been bad at times, but at least we scored goals under BR.. There is nothing that could be said, that would convince me LVG would have been a better hire for us... We have the right guy now.. and thats all that matters

I agree that he gave a lot of young kids a chance, but from an outsiders perspective, it appears to be out of necessity, due to an injury... not some master stroke on his part..

I think you guys have a lot of young talent, in attack... we'll see if the new manager lets them play their game... Mourinho still has pulling power, so I'm sure you'll be just fine plugging the holes. I believe he'll steady the ship.. Whether he plays in the "United Way" or not, is inconsequential at this point...

LvG said he likes keeping a small squad bc it will give youth a chance which ended up happening

How will Jose look at this roster and what changes can we expect?

Just curious as to who will remain in United and who will they look to add. A player I dont want to name seems like a fit with Jose in charge. I just hope not.

Jose Mourinho has agreed personal terms with Manchester United, according to Sky sources.

Lawyers for both parties are still in negotiations over a number of image rights issues, which must be resolved before a contract can be signed.

SSNHQ understands the length of Mourinho's contract and his salary have now been agreed after positive talks between Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, and Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes.

He's going to offload people who aren't willing to work off the ball and fight for their place. He'll also end up selling at least one person you don't expect by January. It will probably be one of your favorite players, too. He'll probably bring in a wide player who will work hard defensively (like Willian), a new striker, a new central defender and probably a dynamic midfielder who isn't shy in a tackle.
