Something that I haven’t seen mentioned is the fact that one of the round of sixteen games will be in Philly on July 4th definitely see FIFA trying to set up a US-England matchup if both teams make it to the knockout rounds

It'd be a cool story, but also a lot would have to work out for that, considering there is now a Round of 32 knockout round before that.

They should do everything in its power to ensure that, if the USMNT reach that far, they should be playing on July 4th.

It would be the most watched soccer match in the history of America.

In 2022, 64 matches were played to decide the world champion.

In 2026, 72 matches will be played to decide which 16 countries won't make the last-32 round.

Found MetLife to be a pretty bland stadium/location but I went to the Copa Centenario Final to see Chile beat Argentina and it was a top 3 sports experience of my life. Just an insane atmosphere once inside the stadium and a great view.

I’m not sure what all goes into scheduling games but I’d imagine FIFA would try their best to make it to where the US and England are set up next to each other should they make the round of 32

It's all drawn at random... that's what FIFA wants you to believe at least.

Here's video of the World Cup draw for Qatar.

LINK

My point is, even if FIFA were to rig the draw to where the US and England are in groups that would match up with each other by the round of 16, there would be so many other factors involved considering you don't know who would finish in first or second of their groups and then there is the whole wild card of ranking the third place finishers to see where they would go if they advance out the groups.

Opener of the tournament will be played in Azteca (lame), so Mexico will be the group A team.

That atmosphere will be electric.

Getting a quarterfinal match in KC could be fun. I’m going to try to see a couple of matches, hopefully they’ll have some good ones.

Hasn't been a problem in the past. Can't imagine it will be a problem now as a host.

USMNT will play 2 group stage matches in LA, so apparently SoFI Stadium will have a big enough pitch to host. The other USMNT group stage match will be played in Seattle. Incredibly lame to have them exclusively on the west coast. Our home field advantage is gone if we get any CONMEBOL team in our group.
whoever decides this needs to be executed publicly

Europeans about to figure out just how big the USA/Mexico/Canada really are.

No 1 hour train rides across the country.

Holy crap. England vs. USA - in Philly - on July 4th - 250 years after signing the Declaration of Independence - for a chance to go to the quarters of the WC- please sweet beautiful baby Jesus make this happen. I don’t care if FIFA as to rig it to make it work. That would be so freaking incredible.

Also, how freaking gay is it that ALL 3 group stage games are on the west coast. How the frick does that happen. Such BS.

Will we know ahead of time where the US will go next if they make it out of the group?
