quote:

What I love about him is that he is always opening up space, as exemplified by the goal. Moving away from goal, horizontally, drew Pique out, and created the space for Ronaldo. It's a simple thing, but Benzema is so self-less with his running

I've always assumed that that he was retained over Higuain because he could get the frick out of Ronaldo's way/create space for Ronaldo to move into. No idea if that's true or not, but it sounds nice, so I don't want to ruin it.

ETA: Red Bulls - DC on ESPN2 right now. San Jose - Chicago on FS1 after

Not nearly as bad as I thought from the Whites.... Actually looked world class in the 1st half.

It may be damn time to say screw Bale if he won't drop back in favor of the 4-4-2 cause he is about worthless right now.

I wonder if it was enough to satisfy the Bernabéu....... Highly doubtful that anything short of a win will do that.

What is the deal with Bale right now? I'm hearing a lot of complaints on this board.

He's worthless... Didn't you hear?

I'm pretty sure he'd be worth a shite load to 99.9 percent of clubs on the planet earth.

It seems like he has been taking dumb/weird shots rather than doing the right thing more often than not since Christmas. Also what little "defense" he is asked to play is done lazily and heaven forbid he is in a position where he needs to hold the ball on the wing outside the box.

I know I'm late here, but just to clarify: Bale's disallowed goal should have counted, right? He was clearly onside.

I think that is the consensus but hard to be real pissed about it. I mean we should be numb to the bad offsides calls (both ways) right?

I didn't watch the game and haven't seen it from a good angle, but I was told that Ronaldo was off and was actually just off
