Lets Talk Michael Bradley

Specifically how great he has been since given an actual defined role under Bruce. He was our best player since joining the team this tournament and has been our best player not named Christian Pulisic in 2017.

You know how to rip GIF's from twitter, want to be able to post this nice piece of fantasy footwork.

I've enjoyed friends I have who don't watch soccer go from saying "Michael Bradley is trash and shouldn't be in the squad" to "OMG this guy is great and one of our best players" the past 6-8 months.

Amazing what giving your players actual defined roles and responsibilities will do. Playing them in the right positions, too.
He's been great this year. Let's hope he keeps it up. We'll need him big time in Russia to be the player we all know he can be.

Not only did he look great, but his possible replacements were very up and down. He's several levels above any other guys that want to play in that role. I really hope nagbe gets to build chemistry with him

ETA: More Bradley love.

It's now been 840 minutes (14 hours) with Bradley on the field at d-mid under Arena. The US have conceded one open play goal in that time. He has brought peace to the midfield, and it shows even if nobody's really talking about it.

Amazing what a competent coach can do. The whole field looks so much more stabilized.

Let's talk the first time Bradley has a less than stellar USMNT showing and we lose. The shitstorm will resume. Think TNBhoy..

Solid CDM. Funny that players do better when played in their natural position.

We're never going to lose again, so that's a moot point.

Bradley is a role player, but still has failed to prove himself on the largest stage. His performance in the last 2 world cups has been overall disappointing. I understand he may have struggled some in '14 because he was playing out of position, but he struggled to make basic passes and gave the ball away a lot.
It seems like he has improved since then, but I'd still like to see him look forward more than backward. I feel like he gives up too easily and too often on forward passes that are there, and plays the safe pass backward. I'm all for possession, but this team desperately needs to create more opportunities on offense if it wants to get past the knockout round of the world cup. It mostly starts with Bradley. Since 2014, when he has made forward passes, they all have been done very well. Just want to see more of that.

Overall
It's like posting a pic of Morris's goal last night and ignoring the fact that his poor coverage on the corner cost us a goal.

Just so we're clear, you're saying that Michael Bradley had a sub-par World Cup performance in 2010?
I just want you to confirm your idiocy before I laugh.

Did I stutter?
Most of our team under-performed as well. We tied Slovenia and BARELY got by beating Algeria. It took a last minute goal to advance in a group that was much easier than 2014. And our lineup was arguably better in 2010 than 2014, after losing Jozy in 2014. But Oh, Bradley had a stellar performance that led us to beating uh... 1 team...Algeria.

His field awareness is a very perplexing thing to me. I can't figure it out. It's unlike any player I can think of. He does this thing sometimes in the middle of the park where he just kinda stops or slows down to look for a pass, completely unaware of a defender or multiple defenders coming at him. When you see it during a game, it's very confusing and unique looking. You just keep thinking he's gotta "feel" defenders closing in. But he doesn't. When he's playing poorly, it happens a lot. When he's playing well, not so much. Either way, it's not a good trait to occasionally pop up when you're playing as a CDM.

Was that the first World Cup you ever watched?
By that logic, we underperformed in the group stage of the 2002 World Cup because we only won one game and lost 3-1 to Poland.
As for Bradley in 2010, not only did he get that big goal against Slovenia, but he played every single minute in the central midfield that tournament despite being just 22 at the time while his partner was always a revolving door between Rico Clark, Edu and Feilhaber. Bradley led the team in ground covered that tournament, passing percentage and tackles.
He objectively did not have a bad tournament and you saying something so asinine is laughable.

No it wasn't. Jay Demerit was a starting CB on that team.
