Altidore has always been a soft, front-running loser. Huge underachiever aside from his stint in the Netherlands. That will be the lone bright spot of his career

Why are you glad "the altidore era is over?"

He's on pace to be our second leading scorer of all time, behind Donovan. We don't have a plethora of goal scorers you dolt.

They are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook.

My generation came in with a bang.... Coming in the year after Ghana kicked us out of the group stage, I'll never forget their first U-20 World Cup.

Finished top of the table, made it to the quarters... I couldn't wait to see what that striking partnership would do on the big stage. The thunder and lightning of Jozy Altidore and Freddy Adu.

Underrated upside of this disaster. Such a frustrating player to watch. Front runner, never clutch, average MLS-level talent. He’s had basically a decade as our first choice striker and has never been exceptional. I look forward to whatever the hell is next up front for the USMNT.

He’s good at banging in goals in an inferior league and vs lesser teams on the international level.

Someone has to score goals in qualifying. Jozy is already the third highest scorer in qualifying behind only Clint and Landon. Saying he should never play again is asinine.

People who say things like this don't understand the tactics Bruce (and Klinsmann for that matter) were throwing out there. Bradley has done a great job lately of controlling midfield completely by himself. And Altidore, while a polarizing figure at time, had two goals and an assist against Panama but you still want to rip him? Ok.

Altidore is the exact same player he was 8 years ago.

Altidore is lazy and the biggest underachiever this side of Dwight Howard

He's like a shittier, even less technical version of Christian Benteke that doesn't even use his physical tools to his advantage.

He's been a "raw player" for a decade basically.

If he had half the heart of Brian McBride he'd already be our top scorer.

It was incredible how lazy, slow and uninterested the team looked the last 30 minutes of the game last night.

Atrocious.
