One year on, James Rodríguez's situation at Real Madrid has suffered a complete turnaround. It is highly likely that the Colombian will be on the bench for tomorrow's Champions League semi-final against Manchester City - his third consecutive game on the bench as he was left out of the line-up against Villarreal and Rayo. In the last two games, he has barely played 15 minutes coming on as a sub...
His situation is in sharp contrast to what it was 12 months ago. This time last year, James was a first choice regular and started both legs of the semi-final against Juventus, despite missing 12 games through injury and one through suspension he was the ninth player in the squad to have enjoyed most minutes Now he is the 15th in terms of playing time and out of Real Madrid's 55 matches this term, he's only started 19 (he missed 11 because of injury).

Good player. His hype was product of a great world cup. Suarez in 2010 and James in 2014.

When he is the star, like he was with Porto, Monaco, and Colombia, he can shine. He needs to play somewhere else; he is not a player meant for servicing other players like he has typically been utilized at Real.

He took over that WC, moved from Ajax,Liverpool to Barca since. He's had more club success obviously than James. But they both had huge world cups

Actually, it was Forlan for Uruguay who won the golden boot in 2010...

I think 2010 was the first most heard of LS, but it was nothing like James' 2014 WC... He stayed at Ajax that summer...

well he needs to be tucked right behind the striker as a second striker, basically. he just doesn't fit with what they're doing now

he needs to play in a 4-2-3-1 to be most effective, so he doesn't have to track back and can just worry about golazos and feeding the forward players. he has more structural and defensive responsibility in their new 4-3-3 and just complains about it

Suarez didn't take over that WC. He wasn't even the best player on Uruguay. That was Forlan. He did play well though.

Haha. Top 5 player in the world. But you're right, he was just hyped from his performance in a World Cup.

I mean, you can't really do that anymore regardless of system. Even Ozil runs. James is a luxury player at this point.

James runs. He's not putting in fat Benzema levels of defensive non-effort, or anything
