This is a long shot and will not happen, but it's better that think about it versus no change at all.

Oh my God could you imagine. Buffon has gone on record as saying coaching the US intrigues him too, so there's a solid assistant.

Unfortunately, Italian soccer, building from the back and catenaccio defense, is the antithesis of American soccer

I would donate to that gofundme though. Also not opposed to extreme measures in training. Put a shock collar on our backline and every time they play a direct pass and bypass the midfield give them a good jolt. Negative reinforcement is a powerful tool

I would rather those guys come in at the start of a cycle rather than the end of it.

Bruce is our best choice right now to salvage this cycle then you go and hire someone else after Russia.

It was basically an article based on speculating and circumstantial evidence. Sort of a "where will Mancini end up?" And pointing that with the loss last night Jurgy is on the hot seat and the US job would be hard for Mancini to turn down. Mentions at the end to not expect Jurgy's fate to be decided until late march, insinuating a loss to Honduras would be the death knell.

I have no confidence in us even reaching out to the guy though

Agreed. I would rather someone qualified for a caretaker role who has ties to US soccer, who will guide us through the storm, and on to Russia. Arena is ideal for me in that regard. Then go through the process of selecting the right man after the WC.

Back when everyone wanted to play like Bayern and Barcelona, I thought an Italian manager such as Lippi or Ranieri would have been a much better hire than Jurgy to replace Bradley.

Keep with what had made the US a hard team to face: solid, passionate defending + dangerous, organized counter attacks.

That said, I'm not as high on Mancini. I don't dislike him and do think that he's a solid enough manager.

I simply think his personality is too "prickly" and hard to deal with to really work out for the USA men's team. I suppose he could be a "quick fix" for a couple of years.

Yeah, I like him too and that's saying something since he played for Lazio and managed Inter.

I'd kind of rather not see the messy:

that would be bound to happen soon. . .

Russia is far enough off that I don't see a reason to wait that far. We need to secure some points in the Hex and get through. Bruce is likely he guy that can make that happen. I would love to see someone like Pep come in eventually.
