etc. Pretty much everyone now. Diving, whining, bitching, politicking, you name it and soccer fricks are doing it. There is so so little focus on what happens in the game anymore that it defies belief. And then if the focus is on what happens in the game, then it has to do with a shitty ref or decision.

Sound familiar SAF?

I mean this all just one big shitty tribal cycle and it's infuriating to follow.

I can't believe how little I hear about RVP's absurd form or Tottenham's excellent team, instead it's just more and more drama like this shite.

The whole of international soccer needs to be cleaned up.

I just finished reading this.

England THRIVES off of "tribal", they relish "us", "you", "they."

It's bizarre.

Or they could have just shook hands........ I feel your pain though, it's really the media that pumps this up. Managers feel the pressure to back their players when they really have no choice. All managers do it. It's part and parcel when you have fanbases that are that passionate. The media will take advantage of that. That passion is what makes it great and suck at the same time. Example=tiger rant

or you don't have them shake hands because it's fricking stupid and is yet another opportunity to take away from the actual sport.

Haven't watched the replay much but this was interesting on Twitter.

quote:

@philmcnulty MotD footage & verdicts from Hansen/Shearer clear & unequivocal. Evra offered hand & Suarez refused.

Always thought of McNulty as a 'Pool homer and for him to say that was interesting. Considering stills have been used on this site to say RvP is a Nazi, I mistrust them.

I like the theme of this thread though. Everyone blew it today in that match imo.

Suarez apologized. LINK

quote:

"I have spoken with the manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong.

"I've not only let him down, but also the club and what it stands for and I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.

"I should have shaken Patrice Evra's hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

"I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football."

It's time to move on.

Did Suarez really turn a corner during the game? I mean he wasn't too flashy celebrating after his goal, didn't freak out when Evra was a douche at the end of the game, and is now issuing what sounds like a heartfelt apology.

In all honesty, it sounds like he is apologizing more to KK, than Evra... That said, I'm sure he just wants to move on...

There is a good article that quotes John Barnes on the issue on espn uk... Basically says, a handshake would have been fake, the FA should not have put them in this position (should've cancelled it, like CFC/QPR)... And the media has blown it out of proportion

The main issue seems to have been Suarez telling everyone (most importantly LFC higher-ups) that he would shake hands. Strong apologies from KK and Suarez seem to point to unhappy owners.

This

Its real simple. This forced fake apology could have happened a LONG time ago and it would have never come to this.

Oh come off it! I was half expecting you to say "not shaking hands in uruguay is a show of respect and some of suarez best friends have hands" That pic reeks of desperation.

It'll be forgotten pretty soon here when someone fricks someone else's significant other, Balotelli does something, a certain Manchester United fan forum makes up a Balotelli rumor, 'arry does something or Tevez BAWWWWWWS

But NO ONE will bring this up. You want to know why? Because its

quote:

None of the people on this board will side with Suarez. Why? Because he doesn't wear the colors of their team, plain and simple.

There was a thread a week ago asking what is appropriate in a soccer game. Specifically if the original poster's daughter taking out the opposing striker on a dirty team was acceptable. Everyone said it was fine, and players should stand up for themselves on the pitch.

So when a man doesn't shake another's because he shat all over his honor, all of a sudden its criminal. And that's about a handshake, not a red card offense.

So hypocritical.

The ONLY reason people have a problem with what happened Saturday is because Suarez plays for Liverpool and therefore he is wrong. Anyone on this board would have done the same thing he did if he maintained he was innocent. And I refuse to believe them if they claim differently.

I didn't FWIW.

I said that there's usually a way that you can get your shots in without getting thrown out.

CONCACAF soccer FTW!
