I thought Jurgen would make the US a solid team. Good lord was I wrong. My bad guys. My bad.

He's a big part of the problem, but he's not the only problem. We are thin on talent, our best players are aging and struggling, and apparently no one can agree on what the identity of this team should be. Don't get me wrong. Jurgen's a major factor, but we're also at this crossroads as a soccer nation where we want to evolve to get over the hump. We just aren't there yet. That's evident from the past year. We have some of our middling guys like Mix just completely losing their game.

The fact that Bobby Wood is the only person in the past two matches who I felt like could make something happen is telling. The first step may be axing the manager, but after that, we still have a lot of growing pains in our path if we really want to "progress".

Embrace Bob Ball or continue to expect more of the same for many years.

Everyone thought that he would make the team better. If they tell you otherwise they are only kidding themselves.

Isn't that the entire purpose of replacing a manager? No one says, "I sure hope we don't improve at all. I'm okay with staying the course or regressing, but I just don't think we'll improve at all."

The problem is that we're now seeing that the type of football he claimed to want to have us playing and that everyone got hyped up for isn't really even possible with our talent. If we throw our most capable players forward and in position, we're absolutely fricked in terms of defending. If we can't stifle a team's attack or even keep possession for any period of time, how the hell are we going to be able to play attacking football? We got lucky and the stars aligned with Jozy and others playing well, a lot of teams in CONCACAF being down, and very little real pressure to get a solid run going. The problem, though, is that once our luck ran out, there was no other plan whatsoever. We haven't had any sort of identity since Jozy grabbed his hamstring in Brazil, and since then, we've had nothing in the way of stability or even a predictable lineup, formation, or anything else.

I was a big fan him being hired before it happened, and I was one of his biggest defenders for a long time. The fact remains, though, that the complete failure in the Gold Cup followed by the loss to Mexico cost us a trip to a solid tournament. We just had to handle our business once in all of this, and we couldn't do it. That's an issue.

That's a shame. I'll sum it up for you. It's simple to say "Everyone thought he'd make us better". He was a big name associated with Germany, who had just gone through a change in their style and mentality to great success. The problem is that anyone who was wise to what really happened with Germany knew how much of that was due to Jogi. The people who saw that as our future were always going to be let down.

Don't eat crow because you were optimistic that we'd improve somewhat. That's the whole point of replacing a manager. Eat crow if you assumed he'd turn us into Germany over 4 year period.

Well, we do have all our players basically playing in the MLS, Demps came over, Bradley, Mix, Altidore etc. etc. Maybe JK was right, because we damn sure have regressed in one year. Can't blame the players for taking the big money...It is what it is. Only Ream and Cameron seem to be getting better as players. The German players have no passion to play for the USA it seems, we should not be using so many, we need only 1 or 2 on the team where needed.

Demps past his prime, Beckerman is solid but too slow, Beas is to old and learning a new position basically, Bradley is being played out of position etc. etc....Let's go youth, lets bring in Morris and others like him, with a mix of a few vets....

It can't get any worse, or can it !!!!!!!

I think he meant a simple return to those type tactics would be a better fit for the USMNT player pool.
