So, you don't think they'd mind then if I initiated a New Orleans chapter with the sole, unspoken purpose of introducing hooliganism to US soccer? I mean, this shite has got to stop. And since the cops and security guards are too scared to step in, who better than a group of vigilante "outlaws"?

I like this idea a lot. Go for it.

Sounds like you earned that punch.

Did I? Probably.

Should fists be used when smack talk can be used by both parties? No.

Should security stand by because they're too lazy/scared to do anything? No.

Also, this did not happen in the stands, this was in the corridors of the stadium during the exodus after the match ended.

I was also not the only one attacked. I saw a guy from the DC Outlaws (they were all wearing horns on their head for some reason) get hit trying to walk through the mob outside the Phillies ballpark.

Another guy had his flag taken from him in the section on the right of the field near the tunnel.

Security sucked and the Mexicans took advantage.

I went to USA vs. Mexico in Houston a few years back, and it was way mellow. It ended up a 0-0 draw, with Tim Howard saving the day and getting picked up by Man U shortly afterwards.

After the match, one Mexican fan just said to me "The junited estates deedn't do natheen!" I just smiled and said "Escoreboard."

Then went to the post game tailgate and drank a bunch of Coronas while waiting for traffic at Reliant to disperse. No trouble with the fans whatsoever.

Pretty tame by Old Firm standards Bhoy. I mean really mixing in before after a match is pretty much old hat, you gotta know you need to keep your head on a swivel after a match...

I mean, shite, there are going to be assholes from both sides. I'm just sick of the blatant racism on the board. It used to be funny when it was sporadic and well-timed. Now, it's just old.

I understand you got hit. Hell, we were playing some Mexicans last night in indoor, and one of them literally stuck two fingers up the sphincter of one of our players in the middle of the game. But it's far too easy to generalize and say, 'frick Mexico' and spew racist vitriol, after getting hit for spewing racist vitriol, when really, it's just a dick being a dick, regardless of race.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick or morally superior. I have a healthy rivalrous sentiment toward Mexico and enjoy beating their asses in soccer. But I also respect the country for the good its done, the good its going to do, and hope we can find a way to turn the hatred into healthy rivalry. And this board gets pretty hypocritical about criticizing racism towards blacks in other countries, while we chant equally racist things to other people's faces.

I'm sorry you got hit. No one really deserves to get hit for words. But, I understand the hitting.

I try to be neutral when it comes to this topic, but it's not racist to be anti-illegal immigration.

It's also pretty silly to act like the guy saying "the border is that way" is the bad guy in a situation where one side physically attacked the other.

So you can sympathize with actual physical violence but not with anti-immigrant sentiment?

I was not hit for any reason other than this idiot deciding to hit me because I was in US gear.

I WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STADIUM FROM WHERE I WATCHED THE MATCH.

ETA: Also, where was I racist? I said nothing anti-Hispanic.

Didn't mean to imply that it was. I'm anti-illegal immigration. I think it's pretty racist to assume all Mexicans are illegals, though, or to tell a crowd of Mexicans that you think they are illegals. If it's not racist, it's certainly not clever, or productive.

Well, I wasn't trying to make him sound like the bad guy. He's not the good guy either, and I sort of took the entire OP as an attention grab. Why else come back and talk about getting hit by a Mexican? Look at me, I chanted anti-Mexican shite, and then I got hit. Maybe I misunderstood. If I did, apologies, but if I did, I don't understand the purpose of the OP at all.

Well, first of all, I didn't realize that. But, second, karma, and all that jazz.

Come on. Don't play that game. The border chants aren't political observations you are making. You are implying that the crowd of Mexicans are illegals, even though you have no idea if they are or not. And if you aren't, then you are naive if you think people won't interpret it that way.

BURN

Offer something to the discussion like uway or even Bhoy have the decency to do, please, or kindly go away.

And by the way, Bhoy, sorry if anything I said came off as ad hominem. I don't really think you deserved to get punched. That was more a satirical comment calling you out for what I thought was your share in the incident. I didn't realize this was separate from the chanting.

How is offering nothing worse than offering complete self righteous shite. I mean you seem like a smart guy so i assumed you could use your reasoning skills not just to see your side. I mean come on. If you are around a group of mexicans, statistics tell you 1 in 5 are illegals. If you around a group who clearly dont speak english, those numbers are probably way higher.
