Edit: Nevermind, just realized I'm more uninformed than I thought.

Do y'all think he'll be the regular starter when he comes back though? I know he was fatigued from the WC but Timmy didn't exactly have the greatest season with Everton last year.

He is a good keeper, and as homer as i would like to be since he is a Gamecock. He is no Tim Howard, period. Tim is the better keeper.

He said he would take a year off right after the WC. The end of that year should be here shortly. I expect him to try to get back in the team once qualifying starts in November.

Yeah, that seems likely. I had somehow let that slip my mind when I made my earlier commet about next summer. I can't imagine he would actually skip WC qualifiers unless he's done with the national team.

I'm just happy to see him continuing to progress and develop into a replacement for Tim when him decides to retire. From Meola, Friedel, Keller and ow Tim, goaltending has been a consistent brightspot and has saved us more than most realize. I hope he can continue that tradition, because GK is the one spot for us that's the most worrisome to replace.

Guzan is obviously the heir apparent, but I'd take back Timmy for however many years he wants to play.

Question is, as Lakeview1 said above...who replaces Guzan when he's done? Because Rimando, Johnson, Hamid, Steve Clark, etc don't inspire confidence. We don't have a dominant keeper in the EPL after Howard/Guzan.

Rimando will retire well before Guzan does. Guzan is not that old as far as goalkeepers go. We have time to groom a replacement.

How in the hell was I talking smack about tim howard? I gave love and said he had an amazing performance. I was just showing optimism for the future goalie.

Da frick?

Is there another Hamid besides Bill Hamid?

I'd be fine if he was starting in this tournament.

There's at least one sane person on this board.

Bill Hamid has never really impressed me in the national team, though I've certainly seen some top shelf saves from him for DC United. I'm kind of looking past him to Cody Cropper, Zack Steffen, etc.

honestly think Guzan is a better all around keeper. No disrespect to Tim because he was absolutely amazing in the WC, but I've watched Brad develop into such a great goalie. Also I doubt Tim comes back to the USMNT.

Well, we all hope he can can fill half Howard's shoes because he did it for a long time. The man was a coach on the field so I hope your right. I don't need him to be better just in the same solar system.
