How serious of a candidate is Osorio for the USMNT job?

we could do a lot worse, but i'm also hoping we can do better. don't know how seriously he's being considered.

He's a pretty good coach, there is no shame in losing to Brazil. I like that he is willing to change tactics to take advantage of opponent's weaknesses and to offset their strengths as well.
I don't like the fact that he lost his nerve a bit during the Cup and didn't change tactics when he should have.
I also hate the fact that he played Marquez because:
1) frick Rafa Marquez
2) He's about 70 years old and barely made it to halftime.
If he can take this Mexico experience and learn from it I think he would be an excellent choice. If he doesn't or can't learn we'd be better served by looking for someone else.

US Soccer is dead.
National teams are a joke. You have Hope 'Cow Pussy' Solo running around congress. World Cup sans Team USA has been great.
We have given up on USA Soccer. I'm OK with that.

I don't know much about Osorio besides his time in Mexico and his general bio.
Without knowing a ton, I can see why he would be appealing for the following reasons.
1) Knows CONCACAF better than any candidate based on his 3 years in Mexico. Knows qualifying, the Gold Cup, and the way teams play, including the oppressively defensive tactics that are employed by weaker teams to get draws.
2) Speaks fluent English and Spanish. Helps with communicating with refs and parents of some dual nationals. Can up the profile of the USMNT with interviews on Univision and Telemundo. This is something the USSF has always been interested in.
3) Knows MLS better than pretty much any international coach (not counting Pareja and others whose entire careers have been in the US) besides Tata Martino.
4) Had more success with Mexico than just about anyone besides Aguirre in the past decade.
5) He can organize a nice attack, and perhaps most importantly, he can deal with difficult guys like Carlos Vela. Vela is a guy that several Mexican coaches didn't even bother to deal with.
6) He probably has super high credibility with Mexican-Americans. We would be able to get almost anyone we wanted from the dual national pool.
7) He really wants to get the US job.
There are also three problems with him.
1) He appears to show some strange loyalty to Marquez. After Arena did the same thing with several guys this time around, that's a red flag.
2) He is whiny when it comes to refs and opponents (I don't think this is a huge deal but others might).
3) Not a splash hire.
All in all, I think Tata Martino and Osorio are two of the top choices.

Was there a guy that Bruce kept calling up that should've been put out to pasture?
Of the guys that Jurgen didn't regularly call up before him, the only player I can point to is Dax, but he was hardly a main fixture in the XI.

However, I think a lot of us thought that he used too many older guys who he is comfortable with rather than bringing in talented youth.
I'm referring to guys who are in the 28-32 range though and just players with limited ceilings like Omar, Zusi, and Ream. Not horses that need to be shot and sold to the glue factory. Beasley would be the closest to that, but Arena didn't rely on him too much down the stretch and he had a shockingly decent game against Mexico.
However, I think a lot of us thought that he used too many older guys who he is comfortable with rather than bringing in talented youth.
