In those days, we didn't need a sports package because we had ESPN, ESPN2, etc. You had to go out of your way to find soccer. You couldn't just stumble upon it on a regular basis.

It's alright to let it go. We are obviously not as big of fans as you.

Oh, you mean that tournament that doesn't play every week? And when they do play, it is when people are at school or working? And this was before every cable box came with a DVR? Yeah, how did I ever miss that?

Watched the frick out of rugby when we first got it.

I miss Derek Rae on CL games. At LSU a bunch of people would gather in the union and watch games. Awesome to watch.

the wvu student union has a bar in it, we would just stop in there and drink catch the first half of a champions league game on the way back from class then grab a case and watch the rest at home.

Anybody remember the Carling Premiership? I still call it the premiership from time to time. Took a conscious effort to start saying premier league so people don't look at me strange when I'm talking about football.

Dad was born in Shepherd's Bush, blocks away from Loftus Road. Lifelong tortured R's fan, following from the US.

I watched a lot of soccer growing up and followed QPR and the Premier League through my dad and his soccer friends, but wasn't really emotionally invested in QPR until 2010-11 season, when we started seeing a few games on live TV and promotion actually looked attainable.

We went over for two games late in the season and were there to invade the pitch as we (essentially) clinched promotion to return to the EPL for the first time in 15 years. Have been hooked ever since.

Of course since then we've been relegated, promoted, and relegated again. That playoff final win at Wembley last year could very well be the greatest QPR moment we'll see.

Anyone who chooses QPR as their team is a glutton for punishment.

Played with Chelsea on FIFA when I started getting into soccer. Watched them for a year, and figured out they were counts.

Gave Fulham a go because of all the Americans. Lost interest because they were generally dull.

Buddy's favorite team was Arsenal, started watching and following them and eventually became a fan

I get a lot of pleasure thinking of how often you have to wonder what could have been. If only you weren't such a gaping v a g

1986ish

The only soccer on TV, was on PBS, soccer made in Germany(From Late 70's to 1988).

But a friend of mine who played club and some soccer in Europe had a friend who sent us VHS tapes of games from England while in junior high and high school.

The Majority were Liverpool, and then later he would send games with Juventus. I became a John Barnes fan, but of the 2, i liked the Juventus kit, and i knew so many Italians, that not being an Inter or Milan fan would lead to good shite talking nights.

I kind of wished he had sent tapes of other championship/league teams. Would of been nice to follow some of the lesser supported clubs. Thus, when they reach the top, u really can feel the passion of that base.

Now, we have teams buying trophies and american fans.

You are right about that, no doubt. Just don't give us some bull shite story about liking this team in 2004 when they were nowhere to be found on the radar because of your high school colors.

Look, I'm not arguing that this isn't a pretty weak reason to like a team, but it's honestly true. I was active in sports throughout my years in school and sky blue was a color that no one else in the state of Texas other than our school so I always liked the uniqueness of it. When I found a random team on FIFA that had it I was drawn to them. I really don't think that's just ridiculous.

But yeah, I haven't been near as deep into them until several years ago. I honestly think it takes some balls to support City, especially on here since you just get ragged on every single thing you post, even though I do post some bull shite on here like half the time.

If you're into sky blue, you should have become a Zenit fan.
