My 15 year old son said the same thing.

Well, he actually said, "I didn't know there were so many African Americans in Colombia".

It took a minute to straighten him out.

Bless his heart, his poor politically correct heart thought it was racist to call them "black".

After I pointed out that calling someone from Colombia, "american", was not right, he caught on.
