I disagree. Modric was the best player on the pitch.

I can only assume this is a hyperbole

20 fouls to 5 and a terrible penalty. Pretty blatant.

That doesn't even make sense, they can't get steamrolled by four or five teams . They'd be eliminated already

Oh come on.. You know what I mean. They looked terrible. Germany's mid field would have crushed them today. Will Brazil get better, probably. But, if they don't they have no chance of winning.

Rewatching the game. Neymar's first goal was really good. Left-footed shot, at that angle, with that precision. . . Special.

IMO, the player that looked weakest for Brazil today was Julio Cesar. I wouldn't be surprised if in one way or another he costs them the Cup.

Bad goal keeping. On both of Brazil's open play goals. Hell, the penalty should have been saved.

Pletikosa's view was blocked, causing him to react slowly.

He was definitely to blame for the third (but the goal shouldn't have counted as there was a foul in the buildup). And the keeping for the penalty is the same reason Celtic sent him to Russia and pushed for Forster so badly.

Maybe, because of his slow reactions. But on the first goal, even with a perfect reaction, he might not have saved it.

It was a poor penalty, no doubt. Especially after having guessed right, he should've saved it.

Initially I didn't blame the keeper much for Oscar's goal, but after re-watching a few times, he definitely should have saved it.

They're talking about it on ESPN right now and I agree with you and Twellman that Croatia's keeper was very poor today outside of the Oscar saved shot.

In my very limited keeping experience, he should have been further off his line on the last goal coming at Oscar and cutting off any angles.

He should have, but Oscar hit it extremely early and it was well placed. It was a great toe poke shot, but the GK was in a really poor position.

I don't know what his view looked like on the first goal so I can't say who may or may not have been in his way, but it came in pretty slow and it's a save a World Cup quality European keeper has to make.

The PK should have been saved but when it's that hard from such a close range you really have to get your hands behind it or else you can't impede the ball's progress enough.

On the tactical cam it showed the keeper at the edge of his box right when Rakitic lost the ball, which meant he was backing up while Oscar was driving toward the box. As he was backing up, or as soon as he stopped, Oscar hit the ball, which meant the keeper was on his back foot and not ready to move at all. It was hit early by Oscar for good reason. It was literally the perfect shot. The keeper should have done better still.

I laughed at some of the comments about the opening ceremonies. This isn't the Olympics.

He's a head case. I wonder if Scolari saw that ESPN special the other night. Cesar is ALL up in his own head.

He fricking cries about everything. He cried when his teammate at TFC gave him some picture upon his departure, on that "There is No Tomorrow" thing talking about practicing with his kid in the park, and during their national anthem today.

Does anyone know where you can watch the Opening Ceremony online now aside from ESPN3?

Oscar was MOTM and I almost always vote Luka as my MOTM whenever I see him play.

Luka was beautiful today. Looked spectacular in possession, passed well, was Croatias best option.

No question about that. This was the norm for Luka and I fully expected him to be the best player on the pitch.

However, this was the best I have ever seen Oscar look. He was great both ways.

He did lag in form at the end of the season for Chelski, but I think he was a bit tired. He looks refreshed and as good as he's ever looked. Again, he's 22
