I was worried when fox got the rights to the next two world cups. I envisioned Michael Strahan and howie long dropping in for analysis. Judging from the WWC coverage it seems that they copied the ESPN blue print from Brazil. Hopefully they keep this going through qualifying and on to Russia.

As long as they are at fox I won't get my hopes up.

Yeah, he and Wynalda shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

One knows soccer and genuinely wants the game to grow in the US (sometimes that means he offers thoughts that other don't want to hear and othertimes he goes overboard), the other one is just a troll who loves him some hot takes.

Agreed. People love to hate on Lalas but the dude tells it like it is.

I wasn't just because Fox through the old Fox Sports World was really the only place you could find soccer coverage, aside from ABC/ESPN coverage of the WC and the WWC or catching Tommy Smyth on ESPN 2. They been great, and I love the Fox Womens World Cup Tonight. This has been the first time their has been actual criticism (legitimately so) of the USWNT and coverage of non US or Mexican teams, because their was no way Julie Foudy will ever say anything negative about the USWNT. Hewck, I can even tolerate Wynalda on it.

I've been hesitant ever since they named Gus Johnson their #1 soccer announcer. He has stepped down from that position, thankfully, and their coverage of the WWC has been pretty good, but I still think they're going to pull some bullshite and bring Piers Morgan into the studio in 2018 to get some "outside perspective."

Fox has the Gold Cup this summer, so I'm interested to see how it goes. Apparently, Lalas is taking Wynalda's chair in the studio for their Gold Cup coverage. I'd say that's a step in the right direction.

As y'all have said, the women's coverage has been better than I expected, so I'll give credit where it's due.

97% certain that Fox has had the Gold Cup for a while.

I'm hoping they have another plan besides J.P. Dellacamera as their #1.

After Alexi's roast on Landon Donovan last night, he's my favorite soccer personality we have.

I will miss Darke and Twellman though. Twellman gives zero shits and tells it exactly how it is.

I will them along with Bob Ley. As long as fox doesn't try to turn their tournament coverage into NFL Sunday I am happy. I forgot about fox soccer channel so they do have some people who know whats going on.

Cowherd mentioned this morning that when ESPN lost the world cup rights it was one of the darker and angrier days at espn corporate.

Probably, I can't remember. I'll just be critiquing their coverage harder this time in view of the next WC.

JP is terrible as a soccer play by play guy. Late in last night's match he informed us that Germany needed not one,but two goals. I almost spit my beer.

Twellman tries to sound smart, and I don't think he succeeds.
