Twellman tries to sound smart, and I don't think he succeeds.

I think its more of that he has no problem criticizing the US and JK tactics and the players. I like when media are critical because most aren't and personally I think he's right more often than not. But that's just me.

It's been good, but I do miss Ian Darke and that English guy on ESPN's world cup coverage. I think he was a former player who did commentary.

I always thought ESPN did a great job with the world cup since the 1980s they've had it.

But I like english announcers when I am watching the world cup.

Another thing I love is having Dr. Joe in to explain the officiating and their screwups. Big step up in coverage and analysis for the women's game

Their app and website blow if you can't be in front of a tv.

Big numbers for Fox...and US Women's Soccer.

USA-Germany averages World Cup semifinal record 8.4 million viewers

Tuesday's Women's World Cup semifinal between the United States and Germany set an American television ratings record, Fox announced Wednesday.

The game's average audience was 8.4 million viewers, the largest for a men's or women's World Cup semifinal and the third-largest ever for women's soccer match of any variety. Only the 1999 and 2011 Women's World Cup final drew more viewers for a women's match.

Tuesday's game drew 2.5 million more viewers than the Germany-Italy Men's World Cup semifinal in 2006, previously the most-viewed semifinal match.

Ian Darke.
Yes he is perfect for calling USA games. I remember our big goal calls like they happened earlier today

I agree...the English announcers are "world class", sadly their soccer team hasn't been since about oh, 1966...LOL !

Anyone know when Ian Darke's contract is up? I could see him moving to Fox after he calls the Euros for ESPN in 2016. We already know Fox tried to get him for the Women's World Cup, but negotiations fell through. Though if ESPN wins the EPL he could stick around for that.

Regardless, Fox needs to upgrade in announcers.

They were brutal. When Fox was pushing Gus, they kept talking about wanting to put an American voice in the booth, with the thought that an American voice would help bring in more fans. I am not holding my breath to hear Ian calling any more US games.
