I play Seasons from time to time, but playing online FIFA is playing soccer on crack.

Legendary or World Class offline play with the right set of sliders is money.

Right set of sliders? I've never understood the sliders. What do you change? How does that affect the game? How does that make it better (or worse)? TIA

I started a career with my player on the revolution and after dominating the MLS for 2 and a half years forced a transfer and got an offer from the hot spurs. The BPL details are fricking amazing on the game.

In FIFA 14, I only played in MLS and SPFL, so I missed out on a ton of the intricacies. Manager mode with United has been a ton of fun.

Sliders make the game play more realistically...more variety in passes and attacks from the CPU, fixes some defensive logic for both sides, better-feeling movements of players, etc.

This set has been my favorite so far: LINK

Also, Arsenal was playing too easy for me in my first season. Didn't really have to build them up much...loading up my SCP save point and taking a whirl with AS Monaco without Falcao.

Started a manager career with Portsmouth and went through the 1st half of the season on Saturday night. Had them up to 2nd for a few matches....then the team tanked all the way down to 9th. Changed formations nd played around with the line-up and have them moving up again.

Do you use this for career mode or for all modes?
I play a lot with my roommate, but I also play a lot of career mode and I don't think I'm good enough for legendary yet.

Career mode. I rarely play offline head-to-head, unless I'm playing with my younger brother.

That set I linked to is actually designed for World Class, but I just play with them on Legendary because that's what I'm used to playing. Dropping the game speed down to slow makes a big difference once you get adjusted to it.

How noticeable is the change to slow? I've never bothered even trying. I've just kept everything on default.

I mean, you'll notice it right off the bat, but I think it gives player movement some real weight instead of just gliding with the ball.

Update: The good thing about Monaco is that, even though your budget is cut a good bit after a bad season (that you had no control over), there are still a lot of great young players to build around.

Bought Lacazette to run either a two-striker system alongside Lacina Traore or play on the wing, and then splashed a large chunk of cash from the Falcao sale on Aymeric Laporte. From there, I'm just building a little bit of depth with young guys from Belgium, Switzerland and the smaller French clubs.

I'm going the Borussia Dortmund route, more or less.

I signed the Scottish Messi for only 280k. Even though Stoke had agreed to buy him for 5.5 million trying to hijack my transfer

The headline was Coventry gets a steal in the transfer market.

He is now has the highest wages on my team at 28k a week.

I run this club on the cheap.

I got like 4 million at the start of the season. Got another 3 million for getting out the group stage of europa.

get like 6k for each win in the league cup win this year. 80k for beating city in the fa cup chump change.

Pretty sure it has already been said in here, but cannot stress enough how Pogba is a total steal out of the gate on manager mode if you have the cash and can work him into your line up. Have done a handful of manager different modes on 14 and 15 and always get big offers to buy him within two or three windows of getting him.

Also, how do y'all typically shake defenders 1-on-1? I've got the fake shot/pass, roulette, and a couple of the step over moves down, but am trying to graduate to some more clever stuff that isn't too difficult to remember and pull off in game.

The stop/start move works alright. I also kind of do slow dribbling and wait for the defender to react. When I get it to a player with good skill moves (Depay for my now badass Leicester team ) I just go full retard on the truck stick and hope for the best.

This is about the only dribble move I can successfully use.

The Ronaldo chop works pretty much every time against the computer

Online, I use the 4 star spin (not the roulette) most frequently. The body feint is probably the most effective skill in the game, but it's boring. I played with IF Cuauh for a while, so I'd try fake shot stop to bunny hop at least once every game.
