There's so much wrong with manager mode that I haven't played it nearly as much as I have in the last few years. They need to hit the reset button on the whole thing like 2K did a while back.
Plus, the in-game action fluctuates between awesome and maddening for me more than the last few, too.

Unfortunately this is as in depth as we'll probably ever get with manager mode. The player base for the game mode is too small compared to FUT and the money it brings in.
As long as people pay to play FUT after buying the base game, I wouldn't expect any major changes.

Freemium modes didn't really stop 2K from redesigning its career modes or even EA from changing how its franchise mode ran in Madden.
I think EA could tap into a market of new and returning players by modeling a new career mode off of Football Manager. Something with more depth in terms of tactics, man management and transfers. It can't ever be as deep as FM, but moving closer to that would be huge for them.

I mean yeah, I'd nut if they did this.

I switched to a 4-3-3 attack and that seemed to solve the goal scoring problem

All about the 4-2-3-1

That's what I used to use

4-3-1-2 for me, same formation since 12'.
This game is fricking ridiculous though. I outshot a guy in online FUT 17-0 and I lost 0-1 to an own where Fahrman decided he didn't want to lock on to an A pass directed to his feet.
Every time I try to quit it sucks me back in though.

Anyone know where I can find a Ronaldinho regen in manager mode?
Posted on 1/19/17 at 10:17 pm to RebelVol
I'm like 99% sure he isn't playing professionally and hasn't for like a couple years lol.
So nowhere.
So nowhere.

Oh. I thought it would still do a regen of him even if he wasn't playing in a big league
Posted on 1/19/17 at 11:50 pm to RebelVol
According to his wiki page, he hasn't played professionally since 2015.
In order for there to be a regen, the player has to be in game and then retire. Once they retire, their regen will play the same position, be the same nationality and will be placed on a random team in the same league it was that they retired in.
If the player is retiring, but their contract is also ending at the end of the season, then they will not be placed on a team, but can be found in free agents.

Lol for sure.
The Ibra and Ronaldo ones are solid choices to keep an eye out for early on.
I always add players who are older that I want to watch closely for retirement to my shortlist so I know when they actually are retiring.

4-3-1-2 for me
Same here. By far works the best for me. I get a lot of fast break/transition goals.

Tried a new formation today and it's amazing. I'd been struggling to score using 4-3-1-2 so decided it was time for a change. I got plenty of chances in that formation, but it was always a tough or contested shot. I switched to 4-2-3-1 (2) formation and have gotten a bucket of goals today in division 4 and just destroyed people. I mean easy goals where guys have acres of space to operate in. I can't recall ever getting this many good looks using any formation since Fifa '15. There's a video on youtube that details the custom tactics to use and of course you want to tailor your team around the formation. I use Benteke up top and Mertens (hi/low WR) at the CAM. Brozovic (get forward) and Naiingolan (stay back) at CDM and Hazard/Cuadrado out wide. It's a defensive formation by nature but once you get to midfield on offense things just come wide open. Highly suggest trying this formation if anyone is struggling to score goals online
this isn't my team but this is the formation
This is the video that details the tactics, really awesome tactics for this formation

been using the 4-2-3-1 religiously the last 2 years. if I find myself struggling to score I'll play a false 9 for a few games and then switch back. seems to help
