The scouting system is terrible. Did they not update it from 16? I haven't played 17 yet.
I have never been so annoyed at FIFA as when Thibaut courtois told me he was homesick and wanted to force a transfer from my Leicester manager mode, only to move to a team in Russia.

You will only get individual emails from a scout on players if you choose to scout them....lol. I just add whatever players I want to keep an eye on to my shortlist and leave it at that.

The scouting system is fine this year.
No random 80+ overall players in your academy (unless you train the shite out of them, which I don't do.)
Highest YA player I've signed was like a 67 and he was 17 so he only got up to a 71 before demanding being promoted.
I will agree on the homesick bullshite. I had Breel Embolo do that this year and then BAM, signs for Chelsea lol(I'm City).
I've learned to just keep multiple saves. It typically will stop anything bad or random like that from happening.

The regression of older players is nuts, I had Aubameyang go from upper 80s to 79 in a little over a year once he turned 30.

Damn, I haven't had that happen. I think the worse I had was when Fernandinho went from 32-33 he dropped down from an 80 to a 78.
If I had to guess, Abameyang's overall drops so badly because it's the physical stats that depreciate. For the most part, the technical ones don't regress.

All the time. Anytime I get an offer on a player I counter with a ridiculous amount to see if they will chase. I sold Harry Kane once for like $125-150m once with no intention of selling him.

Happened to me once at Dortmund. Rues wanted out so I put him up and got $80-90m from someone but the board took $35m from another team instead.

It's essentially a raise. No years added on, but they make more over the remainder of the contract.
Regarding people asking for a new contract and then needing time to think it over, I've notice you may need to up their role, regardless of what it says they want. That or offer higher wages. If they are unwilling to sign one, then they will make a decision randomly before the next window. I typically will make multiple saves if it's someone I like and then will reload it until they stay or until the board allows me to make the decision. It's just random what they do.

I just wanted to express my rage that I cannot break down the defense to save my life. Smart, intricate passes around the 18- nope, perfect defensive shape. Crosses to the back post for a runner- nope, caught by a CB from 10 yd behind. "Open" shots from outside the 18, looking for a wonder goal or ricochet- nope, blocked by a defender. Crosses? ha! nope, blocked.
I may not be great at this game, but I have logged significant hours on every fifa since about '03. This is the worst I have ever been at this game.

I'd suggest playing around with formations.
I ran a 4-1-3-2 almost religiously the previous few years, but couldn't score shite with two strikers in 2017.
I've settled on a 4-4-1-1 with a bigger ST up top for hold up play (Dolberg is a good one). That's helped me a lot.

I have the best luck running the 4-4-1-1 or the 4-2-3-1 playing possession football. Work the ball around enough lanes will open and you should be able to get atleast a goal or two a game from point blank looks

frick this fricking game.
I'm playing (manager mode) in a league with a two-part season. Through some FIFA bullshite and knowing I could make it up in the second part, I ended third in the table in the first part. I went on to win the championship by 7 points. fricking game counts it as a loss on the objectives and in the continental setup for the next season. fricking shite.
