I trained Pulisic my entire first year with Dortmund. He is now a 85 and still improving at 19

I should clarify that I trained Pulisic and Ousame Dembele for the first year. Ousame is now an 86. Both of those us guys are awesome players and in interested to see if they keep getting better.
I don't like to train guys once they get super highly rated because the marginal improvements are not worth it. I would rather take someone that is a 75 and make them an 82 during the season that take a 86 to a 88.

Just started a new manager mode with Bradford City. Bought Ola Aina, Woodburn, Bradford Jamieson, Kiwomya, The Jeff and Rodri. Got Pulisic on a loan with an option to buy. I'm so stretched at the back. Accidentally sold a CB I didn't mean to sell and now I'm playing a CDM at CB in my rotation

It's a known fact that sometimes overtraining players can cause their physical statistics to stop growing.

So, after skipping '16, I finally got '17.
Although I'm enjoying it, I'm having a couple issues:
1. Is there a way to go back to the old penalty system? frick this new thing.
2. I can't fricking score in my career. Every match ends either 1-0 or 0-0, and not because of FIFA keepers. I've tried switching formations, changing tactics, etc.. Playing on World Class.
3. What's with the corners and crosses in general? Keeper seems to always get it?

I almost exclusively play seasons online. Anyone out there wanna do a co-op season? I haven't played it yet and not sure how it works but seems like an interesting feature.
LSUChicageaux is my handle.

They essentially upped AI defending. I know a good amount of us struggled at the beginning. Personally, for the first week or two I could only score on counters.
You'll eventually figure out AI defending after just playing for awhile. It took me awhile to beat someone like 4-0.
Last year I abused the cutback in the box, but defenders more often than not will steal it in this year's edition. Someone said that driving deep into box and looking for a teammate making a run is a great way to score and they were right. I score a lot of goals like this. Defenders have a hard time stopping it.

Have to leave it deeper than previous. I'm in season 5 in my MM and I found a regen defender that's 6'7. Once you figure out corners you can abuse the system to where you can switch to a player in the box and If I'm trailing I can almost always hit him for a chance at goal. If it's tied or I'm up I try not to abuse it

I started a new career with Ajax last night for the sole purpose of building them into a legit Champions League contender. Like, I want to get to 5-star and 80+ across the board with these guys.
Sold everyone older than 25, started them in Europa. The board wanted me to buy an impact player at forward to build our brand, so I brought KJH back home from Schalke for El Ghazi + cash. Gonna let him rotate at the top and bang in a bunch of goals while I develop the teenagers I have at true striker.
Gonna mostly sim the Dutch league outside of the big matches and random ones where I want to experiment.

I'm getting the itch to do the World Super League with Leipzig and start at the bottom of the English FA and work my way up.
I haven't done one yet this year, but here's the table I'll probably use. It's essentially the top 92 teams in the game placed on their team overalls.

Thank you for that, I now know what I'm doing this weekend

You fill in the EPL leagues with teams in the photo above. So you aren't playing only English teams. You're essentially always playing a somewhat solid team and once you're in the EPL you are there with barca, Real, etc.
It's pretty much just making the league filled with the best teams. It's fun to watch what teams get relegated and promoted too.

Do they keep their same budget and winnings?
i.e. Does winning in League 2 still only get you $50,000? Any idea how sustainable it is?

From my experience, AI clubs typically have the same revolving budgets whether they win the league or not.
But yeah, if you win a lower league you aren't going to have to have a ton of winnings. I don't usually play as a real life lower club team because most have shite kits.
You could always just put whatever team you want to play as just straight in the EPL though to get the big winnings.
EDIT: I've done it in the past all 15 seasons. But it's always been with clubs that are pretty rich. I usually play as City or Wolfsburg for kit reasons (enter Leipzig this year).
All I really need is the money for scouts though because I sell everyone 25 and older within the first two years to start farming academy players.

Does anyone else feel even after all the updates and patches that the game is just broken. Almost to the point it is unplayable at sometimes.
We all knew there would be growing pains with the new engine but the input delay and passing being off is just so bad. At least when playing online or vs a friend you don't get your passing lanes jumped non stop
Tonight I had some of the most absurd shite happen. One game I was about to put in the game winning goal and the defender slid in the air about eight feet to block the ball ( Blocks are still absurd) while the keeper was beaten. In another match I had a player go down with injury, you know usually the bad ones where the game stops and makes you sub them off. But nope my player is on the ground and the computer keeps playing and scores the goal ahead goal. Then makes me sub the player off. In the same match i play a through ball to Pulisic, he dribbles about 25 yards with it inside the 18 and gets fouled. Clear pen, but the play gets called back for offsides. In what fricking world can you dribble the ball from outside the 18 into the box to right in front of the net and nothing get called.
I know we all have talked about the defensive AI for the computer when you play them being absurd. But thats the major issue of the game feeling unfixable. We all get having the computer having tactics. But when its 0-0 the computer basically parks the bus. The game won't open up unless you go up 1-0. Its absurd when you are playing away and the home team plays 10 behind the ball from the kick off.

It's killed my desire to take 2nd and below clubs in career mode.
Now I go with shitty first division sides like Bastia, Cagliari, or Darmstadt.
Too many 0-0 draws to get promoted.

I feel like 80% of my games end 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1. I can remember like 2 or 3 high scoring matches, and I've played several seasons. Even on world class the computer is making impossible blocks and saves.

Most of my games will end 1-0, 2-0 or 0-0, but I have had the occasional 5-0, 6-0, but that's AT MOST, like once or twice a season.
