I almost signed RLC but I couldn't afford he and Green. He was $2.2M.

Really? I did a loan for RLC with an option to buy. I think the future fee was set at 1.5 on mine.

Where'd you get that budget?

I started a career in English League 2 and got invited to a tournament that paid like 1.4 million. 1.7 isn't out of the question with starting budget and like one player sold.

I just assume he didn't dump everything into one player. 30k in wages for League Two squad is crazy. I don't have single player making more than 5k (and only 3 are paid 4k+) excluding loans (where both loaned players are making sub 10k).

I agree; I was just saying it's plausible.

I am in League 1 now + I won a preseason tournament = I had another $2.2M and 30K in wages to play with.

My team is full of guys making 5-10K but I found that I wasn't going to increase the overall quality of the squad if I kept doing 2 year loans for guys that are 66-68 overall.

So, I bought a player than is a 71, versatile, and I own him now. Expensive, but I think worth it given I have built decent depth.

I am in my second year as manager for Luton Town.

I love taking young MLS players on loan for my league two teams, like Tommy Thompson, EPB, etc.

I see. How much did your budget change from League 2 -> League 1?

Need to know what to expect if things go as planned.

Budget did not change a ton. The preseason tournament win enabled much more... I think it was $2.9M in earnings for the preseason tournament win.

I'm in the Euro League now and I think I will get a few million if I get out of the group stage... So that would allow me to buy another young talent or go the loan route and get multiple guys in the ~73-75 range.

Gooch has no stamina... I have had to revert to bringing him on as a sub because he can't last more than 60 minutes.

The issue I will face is when the two year loans are up... If I make it to the Championship then I will hopefully have the cash to afford to buy these guys that I have grown from mid 60s to low 70s. If I can't afford to purchase them at a steep discount from market value, then I am SOL.

I have one guy that is now a 74 with a market value of $4.8M. I could never afford to buy him at that price but I think I set his price in the $1.5M range at the onset. I have to make sure to seal it at that price.

This is what I'm worried about. I set a $600k price for James Wilson. There's no record of that in my transfer negotiations. He'll easily be worth double or triple that at the end of the season. I hope I don't make him too good and miss out on him.

Does anyone else suck at this game? I'm jumping from 360 to PS4 but damn. I never won division 1 in UT but would bounce between division 1 or 2 the last month or so I played. I'm like 6-18 in this game and just got relegated from 9 to 10.

Granted my team sucks and I have no money to buy anyone good and I had a decent squad on the last one, but it's getting old

This game is different beast. Not to mention, FUT's complete shite in terms of "consistency". I had TIF Hazard in FIFA 14, and he'd trip over the first touch and always pass too soft.

FIFA 16's passing in hard to master. I mean, it's really fricking hard. Passing varies based on the player, their current state/fitness/etc, and the speed at which the player's moving. This would be fine if you could start and stop like you could in FIFA 15, but with "more accurate" physics engine in play, it's tough.

Underweighted passes come off in droves if you're not using the driven ground pass, lobbed passes directly over the top (aka 95% of FUT's gameplan) are much more likely to get picked off, and the better AI defending means that midfield play consists of a ton of changes of possession. Pace isn't god as much as it was so if pace is where you generate your offense, it's going to be tough to translate your game from FIFA 15. I mean, shite, I was abusing ball roll drag backs in FIFA 15 to decent success only to switch to FIFA 16 where they're not nearly as easy or effective, especially with no-touch dribbling in play making you spaz out all over the pitch.

If you are having trouble, it's probably because of your type of play. This game does a lot to try to cut down the amount people can abuse a mechanic. Pace has been unchecked for years, and with skill, you could beat players who play a more sound style due to through pass mania and constant counters. My only real advice is to slow your play down and use instructions to keep your players with work rates that may hurt your ability to play a certain formation in check. For example, Balotelli has L/L work rates this year which means he's pretty useless outside the final third whereas two years ago I anchored a D1 squad because he's never a part of the buildup. That's just a day's worth of building, and there's a lot or work left to do. The squads working now, though. Whether it's play style, your team, a mixture of both, or just sucking at the game, it's not hard to fix it. Do all the skill games and learn the new shite.

I started last night on FUT16 (Been balls deep in FIWC) and had a little trouble until my squad started coming together ( WIP Serie A Squad). I'm going to replace 8/11 of those players ASAP with Dybala, Guarin, etc., but for now, it's starting to work for me better.

I wrote that pretty worn out so it rambles a lot, but we're all struggling in this together. I'll beat someone soundly and then get bodied by multiple teams with my squad stumbling around like my friends and I in a pick up game. I'm ripping shite up at the moment, though, so if you have any questions, ask away.

The computer playing defense is just unreal but trying to defend vs the computer or playing someone can be hard as shite. Its going to take some getting used to letting the computer controlled players help you on D.

For my manager mode.

Singed Wilson and Ashely Fletcher from United on load
Green from Bayern
Barker and Nacho from City.

Not bad for a League One side.

Not only that, but you almost HAVE to two-man contain regularly. I rarely ever did it before, but with fouls being given for the weakest nudges, you have to keep them out of the box and at a slow pace. Otherwise, any tackle you make is likely going to just bounce off your feet right back to a defender. Some matches I'm an animal at defending, and others, I get too greedy, stab at a few balls, and either get burnt off the dribble or have a foul called.

Curious for others ahead of me. What tournaments/prizes get you more transfer budget outside of promotion and Champions League?

Really hope I get some money from FA Cup or J. Paint Trophy.

This.

I've gotten considerably better at it, but I was putrid in the first 10-15 matches I played. I also rarely slide tackle in this year's edition, something I'd assume I'll become more comfortable with the more I put into it.

I personally like the passing in this year's and also the fact that you have to build up in attack. I strung together 17 passes in the opponents 1/3 the other day and scored on a cross and got an achievement for it. You can tell they definitely wanted to make the midfield relevant again.

The whole pace buff kind of sucks, I was expecting to burn idiots down the side with Sterling, which I haven't really been able to unless I make someone miss with the no touch moves.

I like it so far, I just haven't been able to put in near as much time because I feel like I have to personally do every training session or I'm screwing myself and that's taking a ton of time out of it for me. Oh and I'm playing TTK too, not easy to go back and forth especially when they're on different systems.
