how many regular starters did Man U start last year from their academy? not many. carrick mainly
Carrick isn't from their academy. He's a product of West Ham. The last couple of years Man U has only really produced Fletcher, Welbeck, Cleverly and Evans. That's more than most big teams.
I think the fines on top of overspending is silly. Like the financial board of UEFA says that PSG can spend 60 million euro on one player, but not 30 million on two etc. These teams should appeal.

he is pumping in money, *right now*. again, if he keels over tomorrow and his heirs DGAF about soccer (or any other number of possible scenarios in which the sugar daddy dries up) you better believe a lot of that shite will land on the club. rich people/corporations keep multiple books. in this current iteration, they are keeping the debts off of the club's books. in a heartbeat they could make the club eat (varying degrees, depending on the overall finances of dumping the club) of that shite.

He's not, and that's his point.

SCH was saying that ManU mostly buy young players before their value skyrockets. ManU's checkbook says otherwise.

gotcha, i'm still considering mata and fellaini RELATIVELY young. also, moyes.
sorry for this hiccup. carry on.

It is, and we have some that should crack the first team soon.
Clevs is the only one that needs to go

Well, you've spent a good bit over the years, though a big chunk is offset by the cr7 sale. You've paid premiums for young English players, some of which have panned out, others which haven't. Compared to other top, non-arsenal clubs, your net spend hasn't been as bad. Still, a good chunk of change spent.

I never said you overpaid for him. all three of them are great players, two of them have had much better seasons though. I'm just pointing out three names contrary to your opinion that ManU go out and buy great young players before their value skyrockets.

I can point to a frick ton of players in the last few years that say otherwise.
The way we usually do thing is use academy players, buy young players from england or other parts of the world. The fill the rest in with a few big time buys.

Don't forget Januzaj and Rafael were both bought at the age of 16 and brought through as well.

if city were playing for eighth or ninth Place I think you would probably see more than a couple Academy players in our lineup too.

for sure but its not out of control spending. If two of them pan out and they get bought by a big club down the line it def works out.
United is not afraid to sell its players.

o just stop
how many of your youth system players have cracked the XI all season. I know some played in the league cup and looked bad.

Man U have paid above or at market value for most of their purchases. They aren't frugal by any means, nor are they particularly profligate, just like City and Chelsea.

Our U-21's are in the league final
and we still have guys like Henriquez who are young that might be ready for the big time. If Zaha is used right he will be money well spent.
