I'm new to Everton, but I see a lot of hate towards the board, what is the issue with them?

From my understanding (I'm relatively new as well), the club is in so much debt that that refuse to reinvest any money into the club (such as the new TV deal money). Not only does this prevent us from spending in the transfer windows, which we've spent less than any other EPL team, but they also keep pushing back building a new stadium which is really needed. There have been a lot of protests from the fans trying to push the board out. If you want a better feel for it read r/everton or grandoldteam. Those guys are pissed.

That being said, I'm still hoping we see some spending before the end of the transfer window. If we don't see any good deals, things will really heat up with the anti Kentwright protests.

ETA: here's a good post from someone on reddit LINK

Granted a lot his post is tiger rantesque, but it can at least give you an idea of why everyone is so upset.

That's just on fan, every team has them

Apparently Stones was in tears as fans were asking him about what was going on after the game. Some people are suggesting that management wants to sell and told him to submit the transfer request hoping that it might sway Martinez. Martinez on the other hand is standing by his word and won't sell and Stones is just caught in the middle of it all.

It could also be that Stones does want to go but still feels bad about the whole thing.

Either way, I guess we'll find out soon enough with the transfer deadline approaching. Obviously I'm still hoping we don't sell and Stones doesn't seem like the type of player to let that affect his play even if he did want to leave.

Im sure it was an emotional for him going back to barnsley too

I really think the window should shut aug 1 or sometime before the first game.

FWIW I think the average Everton supporter believes Kenwright truly loves the club, that's pretty accepted as true. But, Kenwright doesn't have the money to sink into it and compete, and Robert Earl, for example, couldn't give a frick about EFC.

My guess is Stones has some loyalty to Everton but was influenced by his agent, his youth, the fact that Everton aren't committed to success at the top, and Chelsea's tactics.

I don't think any of us would fault him for being lured to a bigger club, but he's been resolute throughout this and then hands in a request at a point where it totally fricks EFC from a bargaining and replacement perspective? I think something impacted him to do that.

Obviously I'm biased, but a lot of neutrals think staying at Everton for now is best for him. He's developing well, would continue to have a key role, and it's highly unlikely he won't be sought by big clubs for a big fee in 12 months. He seemed to have that attitude a few weeks ago, so it's just confusing as to what is going on.

I think that's where the theory of the board pressuring him to do this came from. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense unless Stones has been watching how bad John Terry has been to start the year.

Which I don't buy, FWIW. I think most likely he was getting some pressure all along from outsiders to make the move, was resisting or saying he was pretty happy with status quo, and eventually the underbidding or the media or his agent or own insecurity about what to do made him take the plunge.

Everton are set to complete a double deal for defender Ramiro Funes Mori and striker Leandro Rodriguez in the coming days the club has confirmed.

The Blues have agreed deals with Argentina based River Plate for the defender, and their Uruguayan namesakes Club Atletico River Plate for the forward, with the defender set to join for around £6million and the defender expected to cost around £500,000.

Roberto saying Leandro may go straight to the first team. Not sure if that is good news or just him shifting away from "this isn't one of the 3 signings."

But he's confirmed, just waiting on Mori now

Most people seem to be scratching their head over the Leandro singing. I'm thinking that rather sign a better striker, Martinez just went for depth here with the emergence of Kone.
