I'm glad Bobby Wood has proven me and many others wrong. I was ready to write him off when he performed poorly in his first couple of caps for the Nats, but he has quickly developed into a great finisher for club and country. The prospect of having him and Morris up top for the next several years is exciting, and I think we can squeeze another WC cycle out of Jozy after this one.

Wood is fantastic at making those quick turns around defenders and firing off quick shots, like his goal against Germany last summer.

Just noticed he scored that goal around Benedikt Howedes. That's a World Cup winner he just schooled.

Good to see him and Jordan Morris playing with such poise and confidence.

I think a burning question is whether these Bundesliga guys can bring their club form through for their country with Arena at the helm....often times we've seen Fab disappear. Has Wood even truly emerged for the USMNT?

I'm obviously giving them all a pass under Jurgy (especially Johnson).....I'm hoping that form comes across the pond for the rest of the Hex. The conversation that happened between Arena and Fab is a big step in the right direction I'd believe.

Bobby has maybe been our best player over the last couple of years.

Pretty much one of the only guys we have relied on to put a decent performance in.

He's proven a lot of people wrong. But he's got a great combination of technique, speed, strength, and finishing that we don't have a lot of in our forward pool outside of Jozy. Going to be interesting to see how Wood gets integrated into the team under Bruce. Bruce has talked about preferring a 4-2-3-1 or some variation thereof, which might leave Wood on the wing or coming off the bench. It's a good problem to have, I guess.
Which also brings up the issue of Altidore playing better when he has a runner (like Wood) up top with him. Unless we can play a 4-3-3 like AZ Alkmaar played when Jozy was there (in which he drifted wide and also had good runners on either side and a 10 behind him), I think we may need to implement a two forward system if Jozy starts. Just food for though.

Meh. Also not a game winner as they were up 1-0 at the time. Pretty mediocre, a few stutter steps and a lucky shot the keeper should've saved. 3/10

You're probably right but the last 2 years haven't exactly been banner campaigns......100% at fault of the coaching for sure though.

Bruh it was a pretty wicked shot....if it would have been saved I think it would have been considered a pretty damn good effort by the keeper.

Over the past two years, Wood has 8 goals in 24 appearances, Dempsey has 13 goals in 20 appearances, and Altidore has 12 goals in 23 appearances.
