Columbus Crew owner Anthony Precourt is set to move team to Austin, Texas, in 2019 if downtown stadium can't happen in Columbus. Story soon.

Hope not. Columbus is a great USMNT venue.

It's actually a pretty shitty venue out in the middle of nothing in Columbus.

(But yes, we have won some historic games there.)

I don't give a frick if people in Ohio like it. The U.S. wins there, that's what makes it great.

Austin would be great for MLS, but I'm sure this is just a leverage thing.

*most of the time.

The last one fricking sucked so much. Get thumped by Mexico, then walked a mile and a half in freezingish temps to catch an Uber.

Just think, if Rafa fricking Marquez doesn't head that last goal in... We're going to Russia.

We would have to beat Australia to get there.

Nah, one more point would have put us at 3rd on goal differential

Deal is already done. Local business men have tried to buy the team from him so he wouldn't move but he wasn't having it. He has a playoff ready team to move to Austin instead of an expansion team. Plus Austin wasn't even being looked at for expansion. Austin Athletic and Austin FC has already been registered. They will play their first season at UT. News comes out two weeks after season ticket renewals. Columbus was the original MLS team. This is bad for MLS. Can't take a league seriously when you up and move. This doesn't happen in other leagues across the world. I'm sure FC Cincy will join MLS now but fans in Cbus won't support them. Their was already a pretty nasty rivalry between the two clubs.

Yeah. Someone needs to step in here. MLS can't let one of the original franchises move. It's all for leverage.

I hope Austin develops its team, just not at the expense of Columbus. MAPFRE Stadium is basically a glorified high school stadium, but it has history, dammit. The Crew literally rebranded less than three years ago, and I thought it was a very good rebrand for modern MLS, like Sporting KC was.

Why Austin instead of a city with a fanbase that actually cares about soccer?

So this is what the meetings were about

Don’t we love our franchise system, so much for the people saying we need to love our American system and MLS is great for stability.

One of the OG MLS members with the first SSS in an area that is big into soccer potential moving. What a fricking joke owners need to pay for their own stadiums. This one isn’t even 20 years old.

And moving to a city that couldn't/wouldn't support a USL club.

Wasn't San Antonio doing well in terms of attendance? They would've been a much better landing spot.
