It's not so much about the kits from last night, but the entire messaging and marketing of both US national teams. I feel zero connection to this team.

Why could the Moroccan fans afford tickets, but not team USA fans? Your logic appears flawed.

But that also goes back to the venue selection and the context of the game.

The US has already qualified for the World Cup and this is their 3rd time playing in Cincinnati since last September (plus several other games in Ohio), so you're not giving any other American fans a chance to real to see the team and fans in those areas I'm sure don't feel the need to check out another one that doesn't matter.

Conversely, if you're a Moroccan or a Moroccan fan living in the area why wouldn't you go? How many opportunities do you get to see your team play?

Remember when the team played a friendly in Chattanooga? It was in Feb, camp cupcake, and cold and rainy and the stadium was still packed because it was giving a soccer crazy town a chance to watch their national team play.

I don't get why we don't do that more often for friendlies instead of using the same 5-6 venues now.

Let me ask you this.

Did you even know if the USMNT was going to wear "pride" numbers before last night when you saw them?

This is all part of our strategy to pack US stadiums with opposing fans so CP gets pissed and plays like he did last night.
I’d say the experiment was a success!

It’s a long shot but I would kill a man for them to play at Protective Stadium in Birmingham. No idea how the crowd would be though. The USL attendance there isn’t great

It’s Morocco who for even the hardcore fans that know them realize Hakimi wasn’t playing
??? He started.

But as others have stated.., they need to move the venue around and not charge so much for a friendly (even though if the location was new I think people wouldnt balk at the prices)

Of all the bad takes about why fans don't show up to matches, this might be the worst I've seen.

I just dont understand how people cant see that making outward political expressions a MANDATORY aspect for inclusion on a National team is frickED UP

Especially with the explosion of new, MLS specific venues in the last few years.

I don’t know if it would be jammed pack but I would have loved to have gone to one in DC if they ever came when I was there (would make sense to being the Capitol and all). Audi Field is only a few years old.

Promoting acceptance of LGBT people is political?

So you're not going to answer the question directly?

Second question, did you turn the match off because they were wearing pride numbers?

ETA: LOL downvotes

There is a TON of fricked up shite this country does; but putting Pride numbers on the national team jerseys to signal to a marginalized portion of our population that they are valued by their National Team is definitely not one of them. As a straight white male, recognizing Pride month had legitimately zero impact on how I watched the game or enjoyed the win. And I refuse to believe that it had any impact on fans choosing to buy or not buy tickets months back when this game was announced.

Yep.

I don't give a shite whether they support pride month or not, I just can't even fathom caring about something that doesn't affect me one way or another.

It's just hilarious that there are people who are trying so hard to use that as the reasoning as to why Americans didn't show up last night, when that is so clearly not the case. But they won't let facts get in the way of their crusade. Because they are so insecure and bothered by it, then in their minds, it must be the reason why no one showed up.

This is where I'm at. When did this country become so soft? Who gives AF what color is on the jersey, it doesn't impact any of us. I don't understand when we all became such pussies.

When both the republicans and democrats realized that the easiest way to rake in money was to blame literally everything on the other side, which was right around the time social media took off.

So now you have two factions of people screaming at the sky, blaming the other side for every bad thing that happens, while the smart people in the middle roll their eyes at both sides and continue to actually find things to enjoy in life.

I don’t care about this stuff either, and I don’t think I’d even notice that they were wearing special jerseys, but the LGBT population is closer to the most coddled group of people that it is to being marginalized these days.
