Beach Soccer on BeIN

So they have beach soccer on all the time, I think it's a Euro league. My question is what caliber of players are these guys? Are they professionals in regular soccer who play beach soccer for shits and giggles? Or are they rec league quality players who put their heart and soul into beach soccer specifically?
From what I could find it seems like a lot of the guys are former players past their primes who start playing beach soccer in their mid 30s, but I could only find a few beach soccer player profiles on Wikipedia.

I just remember I watched some beach soccer like 10-years ago at 3 am and whomever was playing had a player named 'Masi' (I think that is how it was spelled) and the commentator kept saying, "what a shot from Masi! Of course not to be confused with Messi!"

I´ve seen a league of ex players, and that of professionals. Don´t know which one you´re seeing.

I think it's guys who were training to be pros in regular soccer who couldn't hack it in the big leagues and decided to keep playing rather than going into coaching or playing semi-pro.
Maybe the Arena League is an accurate comparison, except none ever make it back to the EPL or even a secondary European league.
