With 25k+ tickets pledged for the 2017season, it is a horrible idea that Atlanta got a team

Unless they suck massive donkey dicks, a soccer team would do well in Atlanta.

Plus Arthur Blank is by NO means an amateur. His wealth is derived by providing customer service (Home Depot). Since he has owned the Falcons, he quite understands the power of the customer very well and they've done quite well on the season ticket front.

New car smell. Let's see if they can sustain that over a number of years.

Falcon fans suck tho

Even if ATL fans suck and not alot show up, there should be good numbers of away fans at their matches.

You're dumb. It's not a horrible sports town at all. It's history at winning championships has been horrible but other than that, outside of NYC, I can't think of 1 major transplant city that's a better sports town.

I don´t know if I´d say his wealth is derived from the providing of customer service....

Anyway, what has been the Falcons season ticket sales progression over say, the last five years?

I just think that Atlanta with so many people who are not from the city, and foreigners to boot (in many cases), plus the techie companies, there´s not too much concern about putting asses in the seats.

The novelty aspect which someone previously referred to, will only apply to a few demographic groups who have been in this area for many, many moons. Not to the people I just mentioned.

You think DC is a better sports town than ATL? Interesting.

Pretty stupid argument, in all honesty. Put a quality product on the field and seats will be filled. Other than that, you end up with the Hawks prior to this season or you end up with the Nationals prior to 3 seasons ago.

Yes and its not even close, ATL lost its fricking hockey team.

Redskins fans>>> Falcon fans and its not even close.

Caps>>>>> ???

Braves >>>> Nats

wiz vs hawks is a push

DC is a huge transplant town but a much better sports town. With its hometown fans.

People didn't show up because of shitty owners.

Same reason Blackhawk fans were scarce for years.

There's so much to this argument. Yes, hockey is going to be more popular in DC than it is in ATL.

I'll give you 1 guess as to why that might be. If you say fans, I guess 1 of us is retarded. Hint: you.

I'd say that over the last 5-10 years, the Falcons have been gaining in popularity while the 'skins, not so much. This also goes back to the success of the team and championships, how long a team has been around, etc.
Much less to do with fandom.

Anyways, this argument bores me. Getting back to the OP - the name Atlanta United FC also bores me.

This thread has devolved into a pissing contest that I don't care about. Can we go back to discussing the new team?

You are really letting SCH get under your skin on this meaningless debate.

Also, to get back on topic. I have no idea what Atlanta Legion is, but even without knowing the origins, it is a way better name than Atlanta United.

Can anyone else already picture Sam L Jackson in some sort of rise up united video?
