Soccer is about to take a big step back in the US. Eight years between WC appearances isn't going to keep the attention of the casual fan

It’s a great excuse to drink every morning for a month or so. I’ll do it.

I mean, I want to be interested in it. World Cup generates buzz in this country for a sport that needs it here. This is a devastating loss.

World cup is still the best thing in sports.

But holy shite, I honestly get more hyped for US world cup matches than I do for anything short of the Falcons making the super bowl or Georgia playing in a huge bowl or SECCG. And I'm the definition of a casual fan

fricking heart breaking

Because casual fans like the Ronaldo's and Messi's. The casual folk are the ones who end up eurosnobs.

The committed remain.

I agree. It isn't going to be the same without Wayne Rooney captaining the 3 Lions.

In that case, nothing has really changed. We weren't going to make it out of the group stage.

I agree with all of what you said except I'm a Saints and LSU fan. This is awful for US Soccer

It's still a cool sporting event with good games. I will enjoy seeing England v. Uruguay. Plus, the women's team is the one that actually wins anything.

Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Hazard and a lot of other big names. Plus can Germany repeat or can Brazil, France, Spain take it from them. Honestly the US was just going to get smoked regardless.
