IDK, he had some good crosses and has been dangerous on that wing.

ETA: Commentators saying he's been the only one impressing for Arsenal

He's been good pretty much this whole season. He was thrust into the fire against Liverpool which wasn't fair lol, but he's very composed. Looking like a steal for £2M. 4 clearances in the first 45 if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think Monreal has been very effective in this formation, he should be pulled.

Gabs has been fine today. Had the most passes in the first half.

Yeah, his free kick for the only goal was awesome...oh wait. The Wenger's defense does it again. Crap!!!!!

I guess being a sarcastic dick is your way of saying that you disagree, but to say Ox has been our worst player is laughable.

All right, it was a game we were expected to win but it was a game we needed to win.

Take 'em one at a time and just keep winning.

Honest question though:

Do we really want to be in Europa?

Yes and no. Another possible realistic shot at qualifying UCL. Also IF we were to win it could really set us into a nice new chapter at the club. The rub is that it's very hard to win a European trophy and maybe resting during the week would give us a better shot at qualifying for UCL.

I never said he was our worst player, ever. He just makes a tremendous number of boneheaded runs into deadness and he gives up the ball more often than I would want.

Thanks for the classy name calling. I wish I was 14 again.

About time he listens to the fans.

Ox's job is to take people on. He was very dangerous today. He's good in that wingback role.

Looked like a team trying out a new formation. But we were solid mostly defensively and did some okay things. Whatever. Wins are wins at this point and we need a bunch to get into the top 4, which looks very unlikely anyway.

Pros are Holding looks good, Alexis is a stud, we tried some new shite, Ozil and Ramsey got involved in a goal and we won.

It was nice seeing Ozil finish with his right foot. I had to do a double take when watching the replay.

What we learned today is that we are not built for 3 in the back. The personnel isn't there.

I just completely disagree. He missed multiple tackles, made several missed passes and generally was a non-factor. Nobody on this team, other than Alexis, was even remotely dangerous today. The fact is we beat the absolute worst team in the league by 2-1 and that was very close. Arsenal would lose right now to Brighton, Fulham, and probably Sheffield Wed. We should have absolutely no chance against Man City in the cup tie. I really hope I am wrong. Love on the Ox all you want, let's see who goes after him in the transfer market.

Well Liverpool have already shown interest.

Yeah he wasn't that bad. Playing as a wingback is way different than being a winger. He was unsure if his starting position but he had some good balls in, like that ball in the early minutes where Giroud was called for the foul or that one ball he lofted for Giroud who headed it down for Ramsey. The yellow card wasn't good and his defensive positioning was suspect.

Also moving to 3 at the back had some advantages. Gab and Kos picked some good between he lines passes, and it allowed Ramsey and Ozil to receive some balls in dangerous positions. But it also revealed our spacing problems and the fact we need a player who is defensively minded but also an utterly superb passer. Alex Song in his last year was that sort of player and would have slotted in nicely and we've struggled to fill his gap for a while. Cazorla plays D by having superb control and positioning but having a player with the defensive prowess and the ability to move the ball upfield quickly is a thing we need badly.

You're on an island here. He was very good. That doesn't even account for the fact he was playing his first game in a new role.

ETA: This tackle was clutch. LINK

I also find your incessant negativity incredibly obnoxious, and I don't think I'm alone. You can make a point without being Chicken Little.

Xhaka is getting there. His defensive positioning was very good yesterday. He's learning how to use positioning to defend rather than tackling.

My concern with him is he gets awfully clumsy under high pressure. He beat it a few times yesterday but it didn't look pretty.
