The 2022 season opens in about 6 weeks. Teams have started to report as of this weekend and pre season games will start around the beginning of Feb.

Quick Notes

NYCFC is the reigning MLS cup champs defeating Portland 1-0 in Portland.

Charlotte FC is the newest side in MLS, starting this year.

MLS cup will take place on Nov 5 as to not conflict with the World Cup.

Champions League starts on Feb 15. Notable is that NYCFC is playing their home match in Los Angeles. Rapids, Sounders and Revolution are the other American sides.

MLS teams will begin to enter the US Open Cup starting in the 3rd round which will take place in late April.

I don't really know whats going on with the Leagues Cup this year as that tournament is confusing and no one seems to give a shite about it, which is why it's expanding in 2023.

Because of weather concerns?

From Wiki:

NYCFC's home stadium, Yankee Stadium, as well as its second-choice venue, Citi Field, are unavailable because they are not CONCACAF-approved venues, and the club's third-choice venue, Red Bull Arena, was also unavailable due to stadium and pitch renovations, requiring the team to play elsewhere. NYCFC has chosen Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, California due to the stadium being close to LA Galaxy's stadium, where the team will play a 2022 MLS Regular season away match four days later.

I wonder if they will change the pitch dimensions to 100x60 to make them feel like they are playing at Yankee Stadium

So what's everyone thinking - Austin FC taking home the 'ship in their second season? Yeah, probably so.

Ok, maybe not. But seriously, if any mls fan is ever near austin during the season and you see Austin has a home game, I seriously recommend going to the game if possible. That stadium is rocking on game night. The games are a blast.

Wilf’s spending big money for OCSC. Will be a whole new attack with Nani, Dike, and Mueller gone.

NYCFC playing in Yankee Stadium is stupid even if the Yankees own 20%. I don't see why CFG can't big dick swing some money around city hall and get this done.

I'm genuinely interested in the progression of Inter and I'm hoping that in 18 months either them or LAG land Messi.

Does anyone actually follow a squad? I follow LAG and loosely follow Inter Miami.

I've been a Timbers fan for years, used to travel to go to a game every season, but man the supporter groups are making it really hard for me to continue.

And I support FC Dallas also because it's close enough to go catch a game here and there on a weekend and my son played a couple years for their youth system. It's fun watching all their homegrown talent develop and move on, but it makes for a terrible on field product

Haven't seen your Timbers Army mate, SirWinston, post in a while. Hope the lad is doing well.

I loosely follow Nashville SC (follow them on Twitter, will watch a game here or there). Excited to go to a game in the new stadium this year!

Why's this?

I don't care about anyones politics, do what ya want believe what you want. But they press their agendas as hard as possible into game days and club decisions and there's no room for other opinions with them.

Here's a few examples
-protested MLS banning political statements (the antifa flag was the issue) by not cheering at all during games (including a Sounders derby). Eventually complained and threatened enough for MLS to allow antifa flags and signs.
-supporters are protesting and cancelling their season Tix over the Thorns drafting a player who had some questionable tweets in her past.
-the clubs discontinued meeting with the leadership of the supporters groups because they lack inclusion aren't open to other ideas. Shocker I know.

Some of their gripes are valid, like the sexual assault stuff with the Thorns, but they come off so tyrannical with their views it's off putting.
