Those other options didn't make sense with Sevilla qualifying for UCL...

Luciano Spalletti is keen on returning to Serie A. Roma and Napoli could be landing places for him.

It's a shame he's wasting away on the bench at City. He's a player I really like.

He plays plenty, when he's healthy. He's never healthy. It's been muscle injury after muscle injury since he joined.

He may get offered the Napoli job. He'll be more dangerous there than Rafa Benitez too.

Roma has a manager.

He had some injury problems at Fiorentina too. Missed the entire 2010-11 season.

Supposedly there's a rift between Rudi Garcia and Roma management.

To the degree that Garcia would leave, it's just paper selling rumors.

Garcia had a press conference last weekend where he said that Juve's transfer budget could see them move even further ahead of Roma and Palotta didn't like it and made his own statement that Roma would have the roster to contend for the Scudetto.

Journalists took that and ran with it. They linked Emery with Roma mainly because Palotta and Roma DS Sabatini were in London at the same time Emery was meeting with West Ham.
However, Palotta and Sabatini have met in London just after the season for four straight years to discuss transfers.

I'm sure Palotta will soon give another scathing radio interview where he sails into the Italian press for "destabilizing conjecture" and confirms 100% that Garcia is the Roma manager.

Then the press will be pissed and print even more conjecture.

For Roma rumors: watch out for Gervinho and/or Doumbia to be sold soon (even though most think Ljajic is more likely) before buying for the attack.

Also, hard to imagine Roma not buying Nainggolan though it's a bit alarming that it hasn't happened yet. I think Roma will do it before it goes to envelopes and imagine they're trying to sort out Ibarbo, Astori and some youth players like Viviani and Verde Cagliari may want on loan.

If Roma sell Doumbia, hopefully Zenit are in on getting him. He's a dominant player in the RFPL and a big part of CSKA's back-to-back titles. Plus, Zenit have a tendency to play boring football under AVB and could use Doumbia's creativity.

Some Lazio rumours:

The club are interested in Robin van Persie and Fabio Borini

Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Chelsea are interested in Felipe Anderson but the Brazilian says he's committed to Lazio

I really hope Borini gets a different offer. He's maybe not quite Roma quality but I really like him and don't want to see him choose Lazio.

Van Persie is in Roma right now. You never know as it may just be vacation but Lazio will look for a CF and does have at least the CL playoff spot to entice.

Rumors, that also may be completely unfounded, were that Van Persie is looking for a 4 year deal at €5m per year (Italian after tax amount).

If so, that's around €35m just on salary and could really backfire for Lazio in completely handcuffing them if he has injuries.

About Doumbia: not certain he'll be sold and have heard nothing but just my personal suspicion. The whole situation was unfortunate since he was bought this winter and then injured his back immediately after at AFCON and never was fully healthy.

However, that really didn't endear him to a lot of fans and I think management would certainly sell him to buy a CF they think is an upgrade but also may do so with someone they think is fairly equal just to avoid a scenario where he's off to a bad start and the fans really turn on him.

It's too bad as he looked very good in the matches he was healthy. Problem was that there were only three of them at the end of the season.

Not sure if the back problem is the type that may linger but Doumbia has a lot more quality than some credit.

I was thinking that about Borini, with his Roma ties... But selfishly, I want him to go to the club that stumps up the most cash, though I can't imagine anyone will pay us the £14mm Sunderland was willing to last year...

I didn't follow Doumbia's time at Roma, but was surprised to read he struggled, though injuries may explain it... Ive always thought he was quality and was surprised he didn't get transferred out of Russia sooner (there were some rumors that he was actually older than he claimed).. A couple of seasons ago, I'd have picked him over Bony

Sounds like James McClean is going to the New York Red Bulls. Apparently sick of the bigotry in the UK from fans and the media.

Of course you would stand up for him being a Celtic supporter. Dude brought it on himself.
