Yes I see that now, the statement was released the same minute i wrote the comment!

However if you read the statement he isn't on tour due to already being given extended leave til the 18th of July.
Like I said Villa have proven they wont be bullied into selling players on the cheap and I genuinely think that if Villa aren't offered 25+ they will keep him until they get that offer.

I would take Benteke in a heartbeat. As high an upside as Lukaku, though not as powerful.

Same. Knew this day would come eventually, was hoping we'd get another season. I agree, I doubt anything below £25mm would be considered and I think he likely goes for between 25-35. Lambert was pretty clear that he has 3 years on his contract and that if a deal was not done before August that he would stay.

Personally, I'm holding out hope Arsenal gives up on Higuain and offers us £30. There are, of course, plenty of options, I could even see a Bayern or Madrid consider making an offer.

The fact that benteke and Lukaku are under 23 and play for the same national team is frightening

Benteke has better feet and is a better header although Lukaku is probably more athletic and dynamic.

Lukaku has some insane upside. He's two footed, strong as frick, and is surprisingly deft with the ball, especially for such a big man. He's also quite precocious for a striker of his age and style. Scoring as much as he has in the PL as a 20 year old is a great indicator of future success, as long as he avoids injury.

Man, if Chelsea would have kept Sturridge that attack would be amazing.

Sidenote: I was reading an old thread the other day where you and I were both talking about how Sturridge is nothing more but a bench player. Whooooops

He's always been able to score in the PL, but he added a directness to his game last season once he was afforded ample game time up front. He was only going to be a serviceable winger at Chelsea as for some reason they didn't give him a chance at striker.

Why would we have wanted to play Sturridge when we had Fernando Torres (and absolutely nobody else) last season?

Sturridge didn't really get a fair shake at Chelsea but some of that was his own doing with his bad attitude and the fact that he's made out of glass.

Those things will always keep him from fulfilling his considerable potential.

A glass... man?

Chelsea were fools for letting Sturridge go, imo.

As far as Benteke goes, I would love to have him. I think the Arse should say screw Higuain and make a bid for Benteke. He is a proven scorer in the prem so there won't be a year for "adapting" to a new style.

I would be fine with either. in terms of adjustments or safer bets, I think it has to be Higuain though. I get a tad bit skiddish when a guy has one really good year and his value skyrockets. both have their pros and cons. like I said, I'd be cool with either (I have talked myself into being positive about pipita)
