I've never seen it. I went to a private Catholic school and we were taught nothing of the sort.

I was taught intelligent design in Catholic school, but that is pretty much the basis of the entire religion.

It's a common mistake, a lot of people incorrectly believe YEC and ID are equivalent. In part it's due to the fact that YEC are often the loudest and most outspoken of the IDers
TBH, on some level YEC is a little more respectable. Its at least a strong conviction supported by the source material. ID as a whole is a wishy-washy, "hold onto my faith but not too much" type of belief. Yes the old earth IDer is more scientifically rational but it's essentially a modern reactionary belief. It's basically slipping God in through the backdoor where he simply isn't needed anymore.
If you genuinely believe the Bible is true and everything else is human error, then you can believe in ID without any sort of cognitive dissonance. Other types of IDers have lots and lots of holes to fill.

This is sort of a problem for me. I have a really huge issue with parenting. You don't own your children and you can't just teach them anything. That's tantamount to child abuse. I know that sounds extreme, but at what point is a child being taught and at what point is he being indoctrinated?
The more frequently I hear about awful parents, the more certain I am that we should have some kind of public school system.
It's a bizarre place to be. Freedom is sort of incredibly important; it's essential to a truly human life. It also can allow for incredible cruelty and subjugation without ever truly breaking a moral law.
Anyway, let's step away from that. I went to a school that taught this sort of nonsense, and it created more atheists than not. It's not effective.
