We have a bulldog in that region if necessary. Given the right intelligence report they could be turned loose on Iran tomorrow. Strategically speaking they are invaluable. I hope I spelled that right don't have spellcheck.

No, you're not. You're parroting talking points from someone else. Comparing a rocket loaded with TNT to a Roman candle isn't a serious comparison. And anyone who makes that comparison should be ridiculed and laughed at.

Ben the days of Israel taking on all commers in that region is over. Without US assistance Israel would fall within weeks of a pan-Arab attack, the other countries are equipped and trained to much more comparative standards today than in the 60's and 70's.

Why do we have a problem with Iran - Israel. Why do we need a "bulldog" in the region - Israel. Why are we reviled in the region - Israel. They can't fight with us, we can't base operations there - they are a millstone about our necks. Any strategic benefit they provide is directly related to their protection. They're a liability, not a benefit.

Impossible to state with any certainty, but without the worst foreign policy decision of the 20th century in 1947 I would suggest that modern jihadism would be much more muted and would more likely involve an internal struggle.
But in relation to Iran specifically the fear of a nuclear Iran is always related to the existence of Israel....not our existence.
