u weren't paying attention then. He said many times on the campaign trail "they might not know it yet, but they're paying for the wall".

Ok. So how are they paying for it? A tariff?

American consumers will ultimately pay for trlarriffs in the form of higher priced Mexican imports. Maybe it will put some Americans back to work, but it won't be sustainable.

I've also seen a report stating that the US holds some 8b in siezed mexican drug cartel assets. It's been proposed that this money could potentially be used to fund a portion of construction.

But let's be clear. Even if Nieto personally flew to DC and handed Trump every peso needed for construction on live TV, libs on this board would still call Trump a liar.

Good...fine by me.

So long as there is a wall ... I really don't care who pays for it.

FYI: I've heard they have ladder stores and rope stores in Mexico.

Of all the dumb lib talking points, this is the worst.

It's bullshite. You know it's bullshite.

Perfect is not the enemy of good. No solution is perfect. That doesn't mean we can't try good solutions.

$30 billion sent back to Mexico every year, slap a 25% tax on it there's your money to pay for the wall.

A 25% tax on overseas wire transfers? Do you realize that this would bring international shipping and trade to a halt? Oh boy, you really are living in fantasy land.

Dude. You have had a rough run. I haven't seen someone so consistently and glaringly wrong. You fall for fake news harder than anyone else on this site.

It's not even a good solution and don't lecture me on the enemy of the good. The unemployment rate could hit 2% and the only post here would be about the participation rate . TD poliboard owns the perfect/enemy of the good.

But back to the wall: why not simply remove the economic incentive for them to come here?

It's been explained before but "We're going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it" is called talking past the deal. It causes everyone to focus on whose going to pay instead of the wall itself. It forces them to just assume the wall will be built. This allows trump's will to build a wall to be done while letting all the dopes think they beat him at the same time. It also makes mexico feel like they out negotiated him when they foolishly agree to that big beautiful wall.

Sucker? I've been in favor of the United States paying for a border barrier with Mexico since the Bush administration.

It's been far more costly for us not to enforce our immigration laws.
