This is sort of where I'm leaning. Mike Pence would have lost to Hillary in 16. But after 4 years of watching Trump work, you might have the "perfect candidate" . Someone who could learn the lessons of Trump's appeal, use it to grow some backbone to stand up to the establishment, but also maintain the political instincts to make his message more palatable to moderates.

The best of Trump without the worst of Trump.

Good point. Pence was the mechanism by which Trump assured the Romney/McCain wing of the party to play ball. He was a milquetoast, uncontrovesial and entirely unthreatening concession to the GOPe. He's everything Trump isnt, so to assume wed be here under a president Pence is top-shelf retardation.

That said, Pence is different now. He fights more.
Pence, to a lesser degree than Cruz, has grown in Trump's image.

Pence has been portrayed as anti-gay, so probably not. If he came out tomorrow and said he was for a gay marriage amendment to the constitution, he probably would be.

Lol no.

You can't logically assume Pence would have entered this cycle with the same record of achievement that Trump has
Are you serious? What the hell do you think Biden's doing with an administration from over 4 years ago!
Listen, I'm not saying that Trump won't win the election. I'm saying that if Pence had been magically inserted into the election as the presidential candidate at the start, he would be coasting now.

I’d honestly never paid much attention to Pence. Then I watched the debate and aside from the dumb fly the most memorable thing was just how smooth he is. He’s certainly “presidential “ enough which some of my RINO friends are fixated on.

I like this concept you bring up. Similarly, there's no chance that the people willing to crawl over that broken glass to vote against Trump will outnumber those who would crawl over broken glass to vote for him. No way will I ever come close to believing otherwise.

You've obviously got a reading comprehension problem. Read the Thread title carefully, look at how I initially responded, then get back to us.

No. He will be demonized by the left as bad or worse than OMB

Correct. Remember when the left said if only the GOP would nominate a moderate like McCain or Romney (after destroying moderates Bush I and Dole) they would at least respect the nominee? Both McCain and Romney got the racist/Hitlrr treatment from the left and folded like wet socks.

Because people are dumbasses. Libs hated Trump on election night in 2016 because he wasn't Hillary. There is no substance in their vitriol, it is all based on political parties. These same people are burning down cities because a rapist with a knife was shot by police. There has never been a group of people dumber than American liberals.
I agree completely.

This is probably the dumbest fricking reason anyone could have to vote for Biden.

"I want a senile, tax-raising, oil-industry-ending, corrupt, career politician because Trump hurt my feelings".. GTFO.

Maybe. And the only reason is enthusiasm and voter turnout. How many of these people who think trump is the second coming of Jesus would stay home? Impossible to say. Pence would have their vote over Biden, obviously, just a matter if they turn out or not. There’s plenty of independent and center, center-left R’s who would have pulled the lever for Pence had it been his name and not Trump’s.

I truly can’t wait for 2024. I’m excited to see who come out for the R’s. A changing of the guard is about to happen and there’s some talent in Congress of some very decent, smart men.

The small amount of charisma pence has i smanufactured. When someone asks him a question, he takes just a half second too long to get the sincere look on his face. He then measures out the words, taking care to think each word through carefully to make sure that a more seemly word could not have been used. It is very contrived. It is almost forced.

I like the Trump style better. You may not like the answer, but you asked it, so I am going to blow you up.
