The decision came 10 days before Donald Trump had been sworn in as president, in a conversation with President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, who had explained the Pentagon’s plan to retake the Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa with Syrian Kurdish forces whom the Pentagon considered the U.S.’s most effective military partners. Obama’s national security team had decided to ask for Trump’s sign-off, since the plan would all but certainly be executed after Trump had become president.

Flynn didn’t hesitate. According to timelines distributed by members of Congress in the weeks since, Flynn told Rice to hold off, a move that would delay the military operation for months.

Explains a lot. Ties a lot together. And this isn't just 'anonymous source claims' because we can easily work out a lot of the people who knew.

No wonder the FBI had no interest in an immunity deal. Just makes you wonder what Flynn felt he could offer the Feds to match this.

Trump knew this and still selected him. Don't have no time for security briefings.

This isn't even about party. Flynn, if this is true, has made a move that will enable terrorism.

Maybe I'm wrong and there's a strategic justification. But you're talking about the guy who Mattis couldn't stand and lied his way through the Trump admin.

This could bring Trump down though. He stuck with loyalty over integrity and it has cost him.

You do realize that Obama hired Flynn as the director of defense intelligence agency, and he was on his staff for 2 years, right?

Sure. I'll be fascinated if we ever hear how it went down. Rice would have to testify. But on the ground ISIS had been falling city after city in 2016.

This call should've been in line with Trump's wishes for a quick and decisive end to the issue.

Obama fired Flynn because he went against the Obama narrative that Isis and Al qaeda were defeated, and were the JV team. Flynn wanted to get tougher on Terrorism, and Obama didn't.

Look

You and the rest of the neocon chickenhawks can talk tough all you want. But this kind of thing is not what we elected Trump to do or be involved in. The fact that you think we should even entertain the idea of intervening in Syria speaks volumes.
