Call him the snowbird president: St. Patrick’s Day weekend will mark the fifth trip Donald Trump has taken to his luxury Mar-A-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida, since assuming the presidency. The total price tag for taxpayers was set to hit $15 million, as each presidential getaway reportedly costs the public $3 million, as well as an additional total cost of $1 million for local residents to support protecting Trump since his inauguration.

quote:

"I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done," Trump said in a 2015 interview after announcing his campaign for presidency. "I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off."

Is this the thread where Progressives come to pretend they care about fiscal responsibility?

If, in a time of crisis he does this, then there should be criticism. Is he the first POTUS to entertain and consult with colleagues from around the world at a location other than the WH?

Yes....and this is the thread where they pretend Obama didn't take off every 45 seconds to play golf or vacation in Hawaii while ignoring the tax revenue contributed by Trump in one year alone.

I find the hypocracy halliarious. Obama goes golfing and he should be impeached. Trump takes weekly vacations/golf trips and it's "oh he deserves it."

All you trumpers are such blind, hypocritical followers it's embarrassing as a conservative at this point.

He's the president. You don't get to go golfing and on vacation whenever you want. That goes for any president.

...was KCT the left wing shill that suddenly pretends to be a fiscal hawk when it suits him?

Again, the definition is still the same as it was the other day when I posted it. Maybe you missed it -

A vacation or holiday is a leave of absence from a regular occupation

If Trump is doing any political work while in Florida, then I'd say he ain't lying.

At least he is working. The only thing Barry ever worked on was his golf game.

They worked hard to lose all of those seats in the legislature and to seek warrants to wiretap political opponents.

Which was a smashing success if you get your news from CNN.

No, he was the right wing shill that suddenly pretends that the POTUS works hard and deserves a vacation every weekend

Well even if that were true, Trump paid enough in income taxes in 2005 alone to cover his winter trips for 2.5 years.

If that's your standard, who's to say that Obama wasn't doing political work while golfing?

And how much "political work" makes an entire weekend trip justifiable?

If he can do this work from the WH, why are we ok with him spending so much money to do it elsewhere?
