Every generation feels like they have it worse than all previous generations relative to government growth, intrusion and overreach. We live in the new age of 24 hour news cycle, which constantly stirs the pot as well.

That said, there certainly seems to be an undercurrent of people getting fed up in this country relative to government intrusion, social policy, etc.

Will we see an armed revolt in this country within the next 50 years? If it were to occur, what would be the result...more freedom or less freedom?

No. No we won't.

I think the people can fight back in other ways besides armed conflict.

There are so many people with hard on's playing on the internet all day that want this to happen. I'm guessing there is not a 25% chance of this happening. Will result in less freedoms.

No.

And as much as I would like to see us throw off the shackle of tyranny, I think it would result in less freedom. Typically revolutions don't result in "freedom" but a different sort of tyranny.

There were a few exceptions of course.

My guess is it would be like when Europe went into the Dark Ages. A few people here and there might stand up against the govt every now and then, but if the USA can fly one third of its military to the other side of the planet and kick arse, there's no chance there would be a successful armed citizen revolt here on this continent.

No, we will not see any kind of armed revolt in this country.

What would be the "sides"? Islamic vs Christian? Men vs Women?

yes, definitely. The US revolution was one exception, but look what happened in france at the same time.

look at what is happening in libya, egypt, etc - is that more freedom? I don't think so.

I think an Oklahoma City type event is probably being planned as we speak, and the result will be the same, the rational majority will repudiate that type of thinking and behavior.
I think if you profiled those that want it to happen you find uneducated, bad job, personal life failures, no future types who have failed within the current system.

So you're saying that your neighbor who is in the military would shoot you to save his job as opposed to laying down his govt. issued weapon and picking up one of his own if he deemed personally that the government is overreaching suspect authority?

I hope not arlo, you seem like a nice guy.

Successful or Unsuccessful?

Do I believe that in the next 50 years we will see technology displace people in the workplace to the point that wealth redistribution and government dependence will increase and skew the balance of power between the government and the people to dystopian science fiction levels? Yes. Will there be some form of rebellion also similar to dystopian scifi? Probably. Will the "good guys" win their freedom back? Doubtful.

I hate to say it, but there may be quite a few in the military now who wouldn't mind dispensing a little social justice.

In the name of all that Jefferson wrote about every generation needing to have one to make corrections in what he recognized would become a monolithic entity I would pray or it to be far sooner.
