Will moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem be the start of a huge US oil boom?

Was mulling this over. Let's say President Madman really moves the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. The Arabs are going to flip their shite. The only ways they can retaliate are by refusing to sell us oil and terror attacks. Let's not think about the latter because it's too terrible to contemplate.

But if the Arabs refuse to sell us oil, and the triple entente of Trump, McConnell, and Ryan erase all of the most onerous environmental regulations holding back US oil production, WOW what a boon that would be to US oil producers. This would be our chance to achieve real oil independence. A new golden age of oil in the US. Could this be part of the God Emperor's calculus?

Regardless, if they go through with this, it 's going to be a huge firestorm. Look for oil prices to skyrocket immediately on the news. Maybe go ahead and fill up the truck tonight baws.

That's like winning bingo after only two numbers are called. I wouldn't put hit past Trump.

It's a power move. He's flexing for the world to see. He's moving pieces on the board to get the look he wants 10 moves away.

We only buy 12% of our oil from the Middle East.

Yes, but this is assuming all OPEC states refuse to sell to us.

The only time that worked was when we had price controls on gas.

It doesn't work in a free market and will not if they did it today.

Reagan ended those price controls immediately after entering office by executive order. We have never had a shortage since.

We can now produce oil at $40 per barrel in Texas through fracking and we just found the largest proven reserve in history in West Texas. The ME cannot control us anymore with oil.

I doubt that any of the Arab oil producting nations will respond by refusing to sell oil to the US or any othre country. What Israel has to be concerned with are Hamas and Hezbollah (should they decide to get involved) and the general hatred of Israel by the Palestinian people. There will be many martyrs. Both sides will suffer and the cycle of violence will continue until there is rational leadership on both sides, which may never come. Regardless its a stupid move.

You may not know this but recent discoveries in the US show that we have more oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined.

Pretty sure Saudi still has more, but I basically agree with you and that's the point of my post. We truly don't need foreign oil anymore.

will never , ever happen. You know why the Arab Spring didn't happen in and around the Arabian Peninsula ? Those royal governments have the citizens paid off. Saudi Arabia has way more government give away programs now compared to 1978. They simply cannot afford to not sell us oil.
