Will firing Bill O'Reilly break Fox and other networks in more ways than one?

So Bill O'Reilly is now off of Fox.
15 years ago that would have killed his career. However, now we have the internet, streaming, podcasts, etc. Bill can literally start doing his own show in the same format or a different one every day on the internet if he wants to. Social media can help him as well.
No one as big as O'Reilly has ever done his own schtick solely on the internet. Limbaugh has a presence but it's geared towards his radio show.
What it means is networks can't banish big stars and expect them to stay gone. If Bill goes this route and it takes off in a big way, expect other top talent to use it as leverage against the networks even more.
Food for thought.

Dude the average O'Reilly viewer is like 100 years old and doesn't know what a podcast is

Dumb
The left wont quit. Firing him didnt solve anything
Ailes, OReilly, and now Hannity. There will be more

I think it will definitely hurt Fox overall - Tucker doesn't appeal to people the same way that OReilly does and the Five doesn't appeal to people the same way that Tucker did

Isn't this how Glen Beck started The Blaze or did Blaze pick him up? serious question
OP I think O'reilly could pull it off, but he will not

Glenn Beck tried it to less than stellar results.
Bill will do it. He will make great money but nothing like he made at Fox.

Old people (staple of his audience) don't internet good.
Fox News is the TV equivalent of their homepage.

He already is. Started today. Some podcast called No Spin News or something.

I don't know anything about the financial prowess of Fox News or what their future numbers look like, but I know Bill O'Reilly will be okay. In addition to his established presence in the world of political commentary (which I loathed for the most part), he is a historian and, in my opinion, a terrific author and story teller.

Who gives a shite? You people act like Queen Elizabeth just got beheaded or something. It's been like a week. Move on.

I really dont give a frick if some tv talking head can't make millions of dollars any more because he grabbed a titty or something 10 years ago and don't know why anyone would.

The Blaze would be nothing if Beck didn't still have his radio show. O'Reilly is toxic right now and needs to lay low for a bit. He can come back in a year or so with a new book and more speaking dates with Dennis Miller or whoever and do just fine.

Then why is Netfix, with their umpteen million Hipster subscribers, reportedly rumored to be frothing at the mouth to sign OReilly?

You'd be amazed at how many old folks are Internet saavy. Then there are smart tvs.

Beck started on TV at CNN, then FOX, then he created his own network.

Even he succeeds to the degree Beck did, Fox still had to act-- after Ailes Fox News just couldn't afford to sit on its hands anymore. They would have opened themselves up to "hostile work environment" suits because it would have become clear that Sexual Harassment is accepted practice at Fox.
